20 year anniversary trip
Excellent trip
The wife and I went there 19 years ago and was kind of expecting not to have as great of an experience as we did then. We were pleasantly surprised, everything we remembered and more. San Diego is a great get-a-way vacation and the price was right. Thanks!

San Diego Trip
We felt this hotel was overpriced considering the noise from the trolley just outside the window. We stayed in the north tower. Also, the room smelled very musty. They replaced the fridge but there was still a smell. The staff was very nice and accomodating but would not stay here again.

Pretty Good
Stayed for only one night. Overall pretty good. Notes: Used the Fitness Center on the 1st floor. Of the many hotels I've stayed in over the years (career military), this was one of the better hotel gyms. When the wife called for a mobile crib for the baby, the staff promptly brought one up, and were very friendly/helpful. Only had an issue with the valet parking. During peak check-in time on a Sunday, it took them 30 minutes to bring our car around. After this experience, I went to the front desk and told them I was going to self-park, and they refunded the valet charge. Be aware that the room service is very pricey. After a while, I tend to forget how the big hotels make their money, until I order room service. When we got in, I was hungry and ordered a burger w/ fries, and a coke ( around $15 on the menu). After taxes and fees, the bill came to $29. That's right, $29 for a burger and fries. Tasted like a regular burger ($8) to me. Location is pretty good. 5 minute walk to the Gaslamp. Hope this helps.

Wasn't the best
This hotel has a fantastic location, right by the marina and next to Seaport Village, the convention center, and a number of wonderful downtown attractions. However, the room itself was truly lacking for the price. First off, we weren't even given a choice as to the size/configuration of the bed/beds. We ended up with two double beds even though we're a couple. It's tight fitting two people into a double bed. Second, the bathroom was really, really small, with a very average tub. Not only that, but there was a clog in the tub that made water back up when showering, which isn't the best experience. Third, the beds weren't comfortable at all. The springs seemed to be super extended, making every move feel like it's going to make you bounce off the bed. The sheets were pretty uncomfortable, and there were no blankets provided, only the comforter. The wifi was not free, which is really weird these days since it's free at places like McDonald's. There also was no breakfast amenity to be had, nor any airport shuttle, which is a shame, since the airport is so close. Not bad for a normal hotel, but for the price we really were expecting more in comfort. On the other hand, the view was fantastic, while the swimming pools were amazing and huge. Overall experience could have been a lot better for the price.
