Great downtown location

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I arrived early from the airport when things were very busy. Their personal ramada shuttles were busy but they had a different shuttle pick me up free of charge. They also took me on on their shuttle on time to the airport at the end of my stay. The hotel was very comfortable. Everything was clean. I wouldn't mind staying here again! :)

Quaint but Quirky

The elevators were old fashioned and neat, but tiny. The roof-top (360 view of San Diego) was very nice; everyone should take advantage of this experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Valet parking cost $20/night, with 24hr, in-and-out privilege, and was very convenient. The bad stuff: The hotel probably needs its plumbing overhauled. Our bathtub kept backing up and bubbling. Last night of our stay, they had some A/C problem on another floor that leaked and left our room with a nasty sulfurous smell.

Bit of a disappointment

Hotel was in a very good position but old and rundown. Reception staff were mostly helpful but unfortunately I was checked in by the one staff member who was surly and unhelpful which put a dampener to initial impressions. Room was clean but small with noisy old air conditioner. Earplugs were provided by hotel. Hotel is in the Gaslamp area and close to restaurants, bars and shops.

Great location for Petco park!

Has a fabulous rooftop! Great location in the heart of the Gaslamp and easily walkable to Petco and a bit further to Balboa Park (but we easily walked it) Rooms are small but fine. Bed was OK and shower was tiny but great water pressure. On site restaurant with 24 hour room service. Elevator are old and small BUT they are famous in the city (check out the plaque inside) It was a bit pricey for the rooms size and amenities BUT it was Labor Day weekend. We would def stay again.

Birthday Celebration

This hotel was in the heart of downtown, perfect location! The room was small but clean. Elevators are old but got the job done. You're paying for the location, location is everything. You're also paying for the awesome rooftop access!

Not quaint, just old !

Room was size of prison cell, with paper thin walls. Could hear people in next room like they were in mine. Well, at least until I turned on the air conditioner, then you couldn't hear anything. It was as loud as a chainsaw.

Classic charm

Overall, the hotel was perfectly adequate for my needs (business stay), but it was a bit old. The only working elevator was extremely small, and very old-school. It was actually faster walking up the stairs to get to my room. The room itself was also small, and the shower was TINY. To me, overpriced, but it was in a popular location of San Diego, so I suppose that's just the typical price point. Again, perfectly fine for my 1 night business trip, but wouldn't stay for any extended periods of time.
