Cute hotel with the BEST customer service!
Our experience at this hotel couldn't have been any better! We were blown away but the customer service not only at the front desk but with the valet, room service & at their restaurant/bar - The Glass Door. This is a cute little hotel, the rooms are cozy and fun. You get a little bar top, fridge & microwave where you can bring your own drinks and food. You even can get a room with a balcony that has a view of the port! The hotel is in the heart of Little Italy, walking distance to night life, restaurants & the coast. It is just a couple of miles away from Gaslamp district. This is now our "spot" whenever we come down to San Diego. If you have stayed with Porto Vista before, you can call and let them know that you enjoyed your stay and would like to book with them again and they will give you a discount when booking! LOVE this place!

Good location for bike granfondo event
Downtown parking a bit of a pain but it was downtown. Always tips to get something from your vehicle. We had bikes and thus lots of luggage. We stayed downtown because of the bike event, granfondo San Diego. Good meals downtown within walking distance. Room was good, king bed comfy, lots of room in room,, good wifi, good sleep although guests running hallways and loud Saturday night but hotel can't protect against that. Bathroom vanity needs updating. Put in a longer shelf for guest cosmetics, etc. had to ask for soap, towels, coffee. Staff friendly and accommodating. Valet parking a pain but staff friendly and helpful. Good access to freeways. Breakfast hot and good but would have liked fruit and yogurt and orange juice as well.

Hotel located in Little Italy....a great location away from the hustle and bustle of Gaslamp area but with plenty of choices to dine, etc. Hotel was average...a bit disappointed in cleanliness. Lobby area updated, rooms, no so much. Wall ac/htr. was dirty,,,,built up crud on outside, bathroom fan had dust hanging from it...draperies looked as if taken out of pkg. and hung....sheers were dirty. However, bed comfortable. Not sure if I'd stay there again.

It was a last minute idea, and it was perfect for the occasion. The 4th floor restaurant/ bar had a great view. Very romantic! Staff was extremely helpful. Only problem, the free breakfast buffet offered was nowhere to be found! Otherwise, I d recommed this hotel.

Love this place, would stay there again!
My husband and I stayed at the Porto Vista, in San Diego, as we wanted to be in the heart of the Little Italy and experience the “olde world charm”. The hotel was however, modern and upbeat, clean and friendly. Front staff were charming and helpful, pointing out places nearby to walk to and offering trips to the famous zoo, if we wanted them and giving directions to shops and nearby areas to explore. Valet parking, whilst charged for, was a good value per day and the valets were spot on. Rooms were bright and clean (we made use of previous comments and asked for an updated room) with all amenities to make you comfortable and entertained. Wasn’t a great fan of the large 60’s style “art work” but that didn’t detract from the overall ambiance I was thrilled with the rooftop yoga, relaxing and yet, exciting, with the view below of the harbor. Shuttle service was a plus and, at $5 per trip, not too bad for price The bar/restaurant was a pleasant surprise with gorgeous glass lamps, colored neon at the harbor counter and that great view! Food was plentiful, but somewhat limited for those of us that don’t eat meat or fish, but was enjoyed by everyone. Wine selection could be better, but all in all, every meal was delicious. Would definitely stay again!

Was good for the price, but...
...the front desk clerk delivered a snide shot that was particularly surprising at check-in, but I let it go. Was due to conflict with their info/my booking info, and he resolved it to my satisfaction. King room small, but bed was great, and room/bath VERY clean. Carpet/furniture rather worn, however. Restaurant staff friendly. Valet parking at $22/nite very pricey compared to room rate.
