Cute hotel with the BEST customer service!
Our experience at this hotel couldn't have been any better! We were blown away but the customer service not only at the front desk but with the valet, room service & at their restaurant/bar - The Glass Door. This is a cute little hotel, the rooms are cozy and fun. You get a little bar top, fridge & microwave where you can bring your own drinks and food. You even can get a room with a balcony that has a view of the port! The hotel is in the heart of Little Italy, walking distance to night life, restaurants & the coast. It is just a couple of miles away from Gaslamp district. This is now our "spot" whenever we come down to San Diego. If you have stayed with Porto Vista before, you can call and let them know that you enjoyed your stay and would like to book with them again and they will give you a discount when booking! LOVE this place!

Good location for bike granfondo event
Downtown parking a bit of a pain but it was downtown. Always tips to get something from your vehicle. We had bikes and thus lots of luggage. We stayed downtown because of the bike event, granfondo San Diego. Good meals downtown within walking distance. Room was good, king bed comfy, lots of room in room,, good wifi, good sleep although guests running hallways and loud Saturday night but hotel can't protect against that. Bathroom vanity needs updating. Put in a longer shelf for guest cosmetics, etc. had to ask for soap, towels, coffee. Staff friendly and accommodating. Valet parking a pain but staff friendly and helpful. Good access to freeways. Breakfast hot and good but would have liked fruit and yogurt and orange juice as well.

Love Little Italy
Porto Vista hotel is located in fantastic Little Italy. There are wonderful restaurants and coffee shops in the neighborhood. It is the perfect mix of quiet residential buildings and lively places to be. The farmers market on Saturdays is wonderful and located close to the hotel. It's easy to walk from Porto Vista to downtown or the Balboa Park area. The hotel itself is average, but it met our needs nicely. Overall, I had a very good experience with this hotel.

Great Hotel!
We stayed for 5 nights at the Porto Vista Hotel and it was great! They have a hot breakfast (complementary to people who book certain rooms I believe?) and the rooms looked nice. We would've liked a pool, but we were aware it didn't have one before we booked it. The restaurant is crazy expensive, which we expected. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful in finding places to eat, shop, etc while we were staying with them. Also, a shuttle picked us up from the airport for only $5 a person! Overall, it was a great stay!

The Fig Tree Cafe in Hillcrest was an amazing restaurant!! My girlfriend and I had crab-stuffed prawn and mahi mahi. It's the best meal we've ever eaten, hands down, and the waitress was super friendly and great!

Good family getaway and experience
The thing that stands out the most to me was the customer service by everyone we came in contact with at this hotel. The room and bathroom were clean. Great location within walking distance to Little Italy's main street.

Hotel located in Little Italy....a great location away from the hustle and bustle of Gaslamp area but with plenty of choices to dine, etc. Hotel was average...a bit disappointed in cleanliness. Lobby area updated, rooms, no so much. Wall ac/htr. was dirty,,,,built up crud on outside, bathroom fan had dust hanging from it...draperies looked as if taken out of pkg. and hung....sheers were dirty. However, bed comfortable. Not sure if I'd stay there again.

It was a last minute idea, and it was perfect for the occasion. The 4th floor restaurant/ bar had a great view. Very romantic! Staff was extremely helpful. Only problem, the free breakfast buffet offered was nowhere to be found! Otherwise, I d recommed this hotel.

Loved my balcony and the neighborhood
Well, ar first my cookie cutter mentality had a difficult time wrapping around this place...but frankly, once I saw my balcony I was sold! great little restaurant right on the premesis...good food and drinks. Free hot brakfast and good coffe:} Nice views of the water. FABULOUS neighborhood if you want to get a way from the convention crazies but still want good places to eat n shop. The Little Italy area is quaint. Shutle service to down town...all in all I was quite happy here! It was nice to break away from the typical big chain hotels for a few glorious nites!

Friendly, Helpful Staff
Wonderful reception at check-in, staff was especially helpful with directions, shuttle service to the Convention Center was quick and exceptionally friendly. When i requested a cab the night before my departure to be at the hotel at 5am, when I arrived in the lobby at 4:55am to check -out it was waiting for me. Close to Little Italy (you can smell the garlic in the air!). Price as good as you can get in the winter. This was my 3rd stay at this hotel.
