Comfy bed for a small room.
I loved the soft bed and pillow. Great views of the harbor. But carpet needs replacing. Sink drain was clogged. Oh and don't order the chocolate cake at the restraruant. It cost $8 and was was just a small tasteless preice of like a chocolate muffin with a little chocolate sauce on top. But our kids loved the pool and the kids play area on the beach behind the hotel.

Big bay boater
Shelter Island hideaway
This was our second stay and we will definitely be going back for a third. This is the perfect spot for the Big Bay boater, with a dock for guests the hotel is ideal. A beautiful setting in a beautiful city.

Anniversary Getaway
Was very disappointed with the room. Needed to be updated (rug, bedding, chair covers, drapes). Interior looks like a 70's hotel. Bathroom was large but tub was not suitable to showers. Very slippery. Not enough electric outlets. Rates do not reflect condition of room. Picked hotel because of location and past stays but would not again.

the hotel was nice and clean. the pictures on the internet make it look a lot more appealing it really is. The hotel is older needs to be updated.

A Sailors Mom
Just because there are new owners doesn't mean it can't be clean
The room smelled like a locker room, damp and musty. The pillows were like towels wrapped in a pillow case. When asked if I enjoyed my stay at check out the response to my comment about the room being musty: "oh, that's too bad. You paid through the online reservation company that starts with an O and ends with a z,, you should tell them". (She actually named them, but apparently that is not allowed here). I recommended this hotel to the 7 other families in our group. I am so embarrassed. New owners or not I would never recommend this place again to anyone.

good location on Shelter Island, < 5 minutes from the airport. first room smelled like cigarette smoke - really bad. they offered up another room without any problem. Hotel has been bought by a big chain and rennovations are planned. After that work is done, this is going to be a really nice place to stay... in the meantime, there are definitely better places to stay on Shelter Island or Harbor Island. free airport shuttle was very much appreciated. I hope the new hotel chain keeps the current staff.

Front Desk Staff needs improvement
The front office person when we went in were not helpful We had a better price on the internet and they would not honor it so we had to go back into the internet to book.This is the hotel we stay at regularly when we go to San diego. The room was fine, the house keeping staff were great, we asked for a bath chair, they had it in our room quickly. The bartendar was friendly. The place does need updating.
