Good location.
Staff was pleasant, hotel is in a very good location for golf, going to the mall, San Diego Zoo, getting on the expressway. All depends what you want in a place to stay. It is a older complex but again, clean enough. We just use it to sleep and was centrally located for what we wanted to do. We didn't use the pool but it looked nice enough. Would stay there again.

Two large shopping malls within a mile of this hotel. 27 hole golf right next door. 5 miles to the San Diego Zoo. You can pull out of the parking lot right onto the I-8 expressway.

Fantastic place to stay!
Stayed 11 nights as part of a air/hotel package. Great price. Great experience. I know the hotel is only rated 3-star, but it's bordering on 4-star. Long walk, but you could walk to Fashion Valley Mall. North Hotel Circle is convenient driving distance from lots of attractions including stuff around Mission Bay. Lots of Hillcrest restraurants at the top of the hill a short drive away. Hightly recommend.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
Try Adam's and Albie's across I-8 on South Hotel Circle for a really great breakfast! Not many other restraurants convenient to the hotel although the the hotel restraurant (and bar) itself is quite good.

Find Somewhere Else
The hotel had guests for a wedding and they were in the hallway being very noisy quite late into the night. When my husband called the front desk, they said the noisy guests had already left and my husband had to convince the hotel staff that the noisy guests were still being noisy in the hallway outside of our door. It seemed this was a bother to the hotel even though we were actually steps from the front desk/lobby.

Handlery Hotel & Resort
I recently stayed at Handlery Hotel & Resort as I attended a conference in San Diego. Here's my honest take and also please note I had read all of the previous comments before booking and even addressed with the hotel prior to confirming my stay: This is a good, cost effective hotel to stay at for the budget minded who aren't looking for all the bells and whistles. The hotel location is positioned near the freeway which is very convenient. The room is average but clean with large flat screen tv, nice bathroom products/amenities, large bed and basic coffee maker. Hotel has nice pool and a basic gym. I like hotels that have gyms, regardless how basic. It is a plus. The downside: They don't offer free wireless (in this day and age) but you can get it if you position yourself in the lobby. This is inconvenience if you want to stay in your room after a long day of travel, however, the lobby staff and bar staff are very nice and accommodating. Another downside to point out: Not eyeing detail. I had a stained face towel in bathroom and on my last day, noticed my bed sheet had a wierd gunky brown stain which grossed me out. It was small, but staff should have noticed prior to setting the bed. Other than that, I would absolutely recommend a stay here for the budget minded traveler who plans to be out of the room, more than in it, with the room just a place to sleep. Thank you for reading this.
