Soggy
We picked the Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel because it was close to the airport. When we arrived, the gentlemen who checked us in was warm and gracious. In fact, throughout our stay, the employees we met were eager to help out. The room itself seemed adequate for our needs until we took our shoes off and discovered the soggy carpet. Moreover, the toilet kept running. The warm and gracious clerk did find us another room--dryer, larger, and with a better view. We then went downstairs to use the business office to get boarding passes. The lack of venilation and air conditioning rendered the room sauna-like. The printer needed a new toner. Finally, while the hotel is close to the airport, it is distant from other things one might want to visit in San Diego. They did provide a shuttle to the airport but did not pick us up at the airport.

Not worth the price
All three phones in the room were not working; I had to call the front desk from my cell phone 3 times and then go down stairs twice to get someone to come and fix the phones. The reason I booked with this hotel was for the free shuttle service, but that was not available; however, they did tell me to catch a taxi and they would refund the amount I paid to the taxi driver--less the tip of course. The room was mostly clean aside from the slice of pizza behind the desk and the leftover toddler pants from a prior resident. Overall, I do not feel I got my money's worth with this hotel.

wish we weren't stuck there for a week
We were majorly disappointed in our stay here. We chose the hotel because it looked like a great value, full of the amenities we were looking for. We arrived and our room was TINY. We had specifically requested a king sized bed so we could use the extra space in the room to set up a playpen for our 4 month old baby to sleep in. Well, there was no extra space in the room, and the playpen BARELY fit next to the bed. While the room looked clean, it still felt gross, and the carpet was old and disgusting. The bathroom was also tiny and smelled like wet dog the entire time. We had to request extra towels because there were only two in the room to begin with, and even though we hung up our towels to be used again, housekeeping still took them and only gave us two clean towels so we had to go to the front desk to get more, everyday! The front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. The breakfast is over by 9:30 am, so if you thought you were on vacation and could sleep in a little, don't count on being fed. Although the breakfast was mediocre at best, anyway. The room they served it in is TINY and extremely hot and stuffy. The wi-fi also did not work our entire stay which is one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. Even after calling the front desk (who said they would have maintenance re-set the routers) it still did not work. The only benefit of this hotel was that it was close to the airport/harbor/downtown area, as well as the local beaches.

FIRE INSPECTOR
FIRE HAZARD
I AM A FIRE INSPECTOR ON VACATION SO NATURALLY I NOTICE POSSIBLE FIRE CONCERNS. MY ROOM AND I THINKS ALL OF THE ROOMS HAVE A REFRIDGERATOR AND A MICROWAVE. MY WARNING TO ALL THAT MIGHT STAY AT THIS HOTEL IS THAT THE REFRIDGERATOR AND MICROWAVE ARE PLUGGED INTO A VERY CHEAP AND VERY SMALL EXTENSION CHORD. THIS TYPE OF CHORD WOULD BE USED TO POWER A LAMP NOT A LARGE APPLIANCE AND MOST DEFINATELY NOT TWO OF THEM. I HAVE SEEN MANY FIRES CAUSED BY A LOT SMALLER APPLIANCES PLUGGED INTO THESE KIND OF EXTENSION CHORDS. I NOTIFIED TWO SEPERATE FRONT DESK PEOPLE AT TWO DIFFERENT TIMES, BOTH EMPLOYEES TOLD ME A MANAGER WOULD BE CONTACTING ME. AS YOU CAN GUESS I WAS NEVER CONTACTED. IF YOU CHOOSE TO STAY AT THIS HOTEL I WOULD TAKE NOTICE TO ALL OF THE FIRE EXITS FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

Close to Airport but not friendly
I chose this hotel bc of the Best Western name and stayed for 2 nights. The first night the heater was broken but no one ever came up to fix it after repeated requests. The second night, I asked for a different room and the front desk woman debated which type of room I had actually reserved and then sent me on a wild goose chase for king beds, including a trip to a smoking room, without asking if I smoked. By the time I got to my second room, it was comfortable, but I won't go back.

No room for breakfast
This hotel is an eight-story building and I don't know how many rooms per floor and the breakfast room is small space maximum 4 X 3 mts. My family and I were at the hotel on Dec 20 to 22, 2011 and the occupancy was no too much and still we have to wait for an empty table at the breakfast time. I can not image the nightmare at the summer time. The customer service doesn't exist, we forgot some cloths in the room, and we called from LA the same day of our checked out, in order to see the possibility that they sent the stuff back to our hotel in LA, but the answer was "if the cleaning people didn't report any found in your room was because they didn't found anything, sorry."

week in San Diego
the staff was freindly and did the best they could. I think the breakfast area is too small and needs more then one person attending. Waffle area had problems everyday because people were not following directions and one day no batter. There was no flow and people stumbling around each other. Hottub was foamy & pool cool for weather at the time. I like the cookie in afternoon :0)

Good location but......
The location was great. The staff was nice but...... Our key card didn't work to our room and we had to travel up and down stairs four times before the problem was fixed.....temporarily. Our toilet would not flush and repeated calls to get it fixed came to nothing. We were apologized to but were told that since the hotel was booked up there was no other room to transfer us to. Upon returning from dinner that night out key cards again didn't work which meant the up/down trek for the next 20 mins at midnight none the less before we could enter our room. The room was clean but the sheets refused to stay on the bed. Upon speaking to the manager at check out we were rewarded with a free nights stay at a later date but that's subject to availability. So I am just hoping that if we ever get a chance to redeem this voucher that the door works, the toilet flushes, and the sheets stay on the bed.
