Near the airport and Pt. Loma

Convenient location, near the airport and good access to all directions. Easy walking to yacht harbor and multiple restaurant choices. Not a luxury hotel but it is clean and it worked for me.

San Diego Family Getaway

The hotel is clean and neat. It is on a very busy street, but the double pane windows block out the noise. Enjoy a wonderful breakfast which is "free". The staff is courteous and is willing to help in any capacity. Nice getaway in a central location at an affordable price.

Hotel is very close to shopping, dining and tourist attractions. Spend time on India Street; they have some of the best restuarants, many at reasonable prices.

not worth the "savings"

Overall, I don't feel the stay was worth the "savings." *Do note that while they have a free airport shuttle, it only operates from 7AM-5PM. So, you'll be out a $14 taxi ride fee if you do not arrive in that window. *While I am not naive enough to think that what you see on commercial websites is an accurate portrayal of what you see in real life, I was still a little surprised by the disparity between the two. *Every evening when we got back to the room, it either smelled super old/musty or super chemically from the cleaning supplies. *Know that every morning at 8AM, you will hear a loud orchestral recording of the national anthem. *And, I don't know how often this happens, but apparently the parking lot next to the hotel is where the military/navy/army? picks up their recruits for basic training. There is a lot of drill practicing that goes on before they actually get on their buses at 7:30. *The icing this disappointing cake was that we awoke one morning to our bathroom sink backflowing into the room, soaking the carpet. It was gnarly and got all over our toiletries, including our toothbrushes, which we had to toss and get new ones. The worst part is, there was no apology or any attempt to comp us anything for the inconvenience. I wish the reviews I had read prior to booking this hotel were a little more representative of our experience. Had they mentioned even one or two of the things above, we would have spent a few extra dollars to have a better hotel experience on our vacation. Will not stay here again. The location was pretty central and great, but there are many other hotels in the area.

You get what you pay for...

We liked the location and the breakfast option in the morning. Wifi worked well. The room was small and felt cramped without even unloading suitcases. The fitted sheet wouldn't stay on the bed, the bathroom did not have a fan, had poor lighting, and the ceiling above the showerhead was in need of repair. Breakfast was in a cellar of a room, WAY too small for the number of guests dining (yes, at all different times in the morning). Staff, for the most part, seemed ambivalent towards us as guests. Would not revisit.

Good family spot at a decent price.

pool, spa and workout room were sufficient but tiny although they were usually empty so not bad. breakfast room tiny as well, swarming with people on busy days so it's best to use the outdoor seating or take food to the room, nice breakfast with juice, waffles, yogurt, muffins, danishes and bagels. wish there was a meat with breakfast like bacon, sausage, maybe scrambled eggs. Staff was great, Daniel was a gem, especially helpful and accommodating. Housekeeping was good, even turned items in to lost and found that were left behind. hotel location was perfect across from the harbor and dining and close to the beach and shopping. All in all this place had everything we needed just needs updated furniture to make it a hotter spot.

Enjoyed our stay!

We were very happy with our 3-night stay. Very large, clean room. The continental breakfast was very adequate. We had to wait a while for the shuttle to pick us up at the cruise ship, but the price was right. The location was fine - on a bus route and near a shuttle pick-up. A wonderful restaurant, Jimmy's Famous American Tavern, was nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Handy Hotel

Heard several different languages and British/Australian accents being spoken. I think these people know value. Not necessarily a "destination" hotel but rather a clean place to sleep in a good location (waterfront across the street) with a decent free breakfast and free parking. There are good restaurants fronting the marinas within easy walking distance (especially the Brigantine at the entrance to Shelter Island) as well as day fishing trips and Bay tours. The money we saved by staying here paid for several of our San Diego activities. Did I mention the free parking?

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

First Timers to San Diego would do well to take the Old Town Trolley Tour of the city (plus Coronado Is.). Our tour guide was funny and very informative. After this tour you have the basic rundown from which to plan your own explorations.
