Really pleasant stay

I was at the bahia for both business and pleasure. I had a room on the fourth floor in the building by the bay and the view was excellent. My room was clean, pleasant, and comfortable. The staff were very courtious, and besides a little slow service in the cafe at times, there is not much to complain about. My family and i went out on the bahia Belle one night and had a great time. There was a live band and the ride was smooth and drinks were reasonably priced. I would recomment it to anyone who is not interested in a ultra modern hotel. The throwback rooms and atmoshere are very fun and great for a change from the uptown hotels. This is classic San Diego beach.

Old But Good

Some things were old and needed updating or fixing but everything was clean. The beds were uncomfortable and you could hear the wind whistling through the patio door. The bathroom was clean and usable. The hotel is near a lot of tourist attractions like Sea World, Pacific beach and the San Diego Zoo.

We went to Ralph's grocery store and bought some items to make breakfast and snacks at the hotel. We had a room with a refrigerator and stove. We were able to save some money on meals cooking them ourselves.

We got an upgrade - thank goodness!!

The place was full of "spring breaker" kids ( high school / college??) and it was a bit much for our family vacation. However, when we told the front desk staff that we would need to be moved to a quieter location they upgraded us to a very nice room away from all of the party goers. We are very thankful they did this - it saved the vacation!! Wonderful location right on Mission Bay, easy walk to Mission Beach. Lots of water sport rentals: paddle boards, peddle boats, etc.

We had a kitchen in our room and stocked it with food from the Ralph's grocery in Mission Beach. 1 trip to Ralph's and we ate breakfast and lunch in the room every day.

Okay stay with the family

The hotel was located on a beautiful private bay. They only have one pool and hot tub, which was full of young adult drinkers. The Beds were small (full) and very uncomfortable. The resort had activities for the children during the day on Saturday, and also a free arcade room. The resort is within walking distance from Mission Beach, and a public bay. The one restaurant located at the resort was over priced, and the food was below average. It wasn't terrible, but we won't be going back.

Why isn't this a 5 star hotel?

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much when we booked this hotel because it was so much less expensive than others in the area. I figured, you get what you pay for. I was so pleasantly surprised that although the exterior of the hotel is a bit retro, the interiors were AMAZING. We had a mini-suite and it was updated with beautiful finishes and we had plenty of room. The beds were comfortable, I wanted to steal their pillows - so heavenly! My one and only complaint was that there was no room for our ice cream in the tiny freezer shelf in the mini-fridge. Next time, we'll have to eat all of our ice cream ahead of time.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

I'll say it's a long walk, but it's only a mile away and you'll be walking along the gorgeous beach front to an amazing restaurant called World Famous. We always eat at the bar (kid friendly) and they have amazing deals. We LOVE their lobster bisque, best ever!

NOT A SUITE!!!

Was told that we would be getting a garden suite, well let me tell you, this is not a suite. The description said that we would be having a sofa bed but that was not in our suite. On the plus, we asked for a microwave and baby crib and were provided them fairly quickly.

Wonderful Relaxing Trip

I wanted to get away by myself to relax and work on some personal projects. I loved the view of the bay and the walking along the beach. The room had everything that I wanted so I didn't have to go anywhere once I got supplies for the mini kitchen. The room was big enough to workout in and really comfortable!!!
