BEST WESTERN PLUS Island Palms Hotel & Marina

Great location for visiting the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld and other San Diego hotspots. In an area with real ocean character. Marina is behind and bay is across the street with a park too! Fishing pier is across the street which has great views of downtown making for some nice pics. Nice size room. Comfortable beds. Clean. Very helpful staff.

Easy access to all the attractions in San Diego. Enjoyed their breakfasts and the view while dining.

To be in a beautiful Hotel on a private island was so wonderful. Outside on our patio you could see to our north the bay with all of the docked ships, the east in front of us was Downtown San Diego (across the bay), and on the south a view of the bay and Ocean. Private, Remote, Beautiful, Friendly, unbelievably affordable, Quiet, Wonderful staff, and beautiful rooms. We stayed 2 nights and were able to go anywhere from Sea World, to Historical Sites, Beaches, and Views all within 15 min. drive of the hotel. Roads were easy to find and drive on. We loved every minute of it. Also to see the huge Navy ships come into the bay every morning and night. The Navel Base was just across the bay to our south. Perfect place for the price, views, and stay in San Diego. Thanks

Hotel was very beautiful, located just about 3 miles from the Harbor, and San Diego airport. Staff was very courtious, and the rooms was cozy, and clean. Perfect for a nice, quiet, getaway. Would definitely stay again!

Great place to walk either by the water or the marina or just sit and watch the ships and birds. Many sites to see within short driving distance.

This is a nice hotel, not fancy, not super modern or new and shiny but alright. We were upgraded when we arrived and had a large room with 2 double bed and a kitchenette and dining area. There was a balcony but we were on the ground floor and didn't have a good aspect so could only look into a bush. Was not bothered about that anyway but a lot of the rooms overlooked the bay or the marina which must be nice. Have no complaints about the hotel, our room was clean if a little dated and there was a kind of bedsit smell when entering the corridor but as I said our room and the other hotel areas were clean. Walls are a bit on the thin side, we could hear the people upstairs on their squeaky bed! Staff were friendly and helpful. The best thing about this hotel is the location - you can walk out and across the road is a jetty with fishermen, pelicans and people walking their dogs. We also saw seals swimming by the jetty. There is a little children's park in front of the hotel also which is useful for entertaining the kids. The hotel provides free parking and free wifi which you don't get everywhere. If we went to San Diego again we would definitely stay at the Best Western Island Palms.

Had a great view of the bay! Nice park across from hotel. Overall it was a great hotel!

We've stayed at this hotel twice, this is the first time staying in the junior suite, which has a kitchen. It was very roomy and quiet, and I was able to feed my family better food, on a budget. There are two smallish pools between all the buildings. Everything was clean, and seemed to be well maintained by the staff. The location is great, central to the zoo, Seaworld, the beaches, and Cabrillo.
