Great location, but lacks some amenities...
Situated in old town San Diego, but all other guests got breakfast vouchers, and they gave me a room far away from parking lot, where I had to carry my suitcases over serveral stairs...

Good Old Town location
Very good experience with room and staff. Particularly front desk staff on Sunday's arrival. Long line, late but the girls were still smiling! Now that we know the lay out we won't have such a trek from the parking structure. It is a bit cumbersome if you don't come in through front as was not possible for our visit due to Cinco de Mayo street closings. The rooms were especially large in our section (808 and 805, connecting). Nothing fancy but very clean and comfortable.

Fabulous place to stay
Very nice hotel. Perfect for families and close to everywhere we wanted to go. Next time I would request a room facing the town instead of the street as our room was kind of dark. Overall we loved it and will definitely stay here on our next vacation to San Diego.

A nice experience
Staff quite capable, the room quite clean, and the setting was quite nice too----right in the heart of Old Town San Diego. I was simply wanting a bed between flights to Baja, and this was just right for that. One suggestion: tell somewhere how much water to add to the coffee pot in the room per envelop of coffee---2 cups? I guessed and the coffee was pretty weak!

Unique hotel; great ambiance
The Best Western Hacienda Hotel is built into the hillside of Old Town. It is far enough from any highways to be very quiet. You can see the airport from the hotel, but the path for the planes landing and taking off does not come near the hotel, so there is no noise from planes. This hotel is big, but spread out so that it doesn't seem big like the tall hotels with one floor over the other reaching up to the sky. It is has a very quaint feel and the lighting creates a great ambiance at night. The hotel is well-built, but could use a little updating of carpet and decor in the rooms. The lobby with the fireplace is very nice and it was great to be able to have free access to several computers there. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Parking can be somewhat of an issue if you don't feel you should have to pay for it, but there is a large parking lot right across the street from the lobby and we were able to find a spot most of the time. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel and we plan on staying here again.

Short walk from hotel
You have to go to the Old Town Mexican Cafe for authentic Mexican Food. The ladies make the tortillas in front of the window for all to see. This restaurant was featured on the food channel and is very popular, so come early or you may have to wait in line even though there is plenty of seating. The Cosmopolitan is also highly recommended and is a short walk from the hotel also.

First time staying here. Staff was great and helpful. Location is perfect, walking distance to old town. No need to drive after a night of drinking! Room with kitchenette was awesome! Loved the balcony! Will be staying here again for sure!
