Overnight getaway
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel has been made over and is very nice. The weekend brings a young hip-hop crowd into downtown Sacramento, so after hours I was out of my element. Even with all the noise and liveliness in the lobby, my room was quiet, and once I retired for the evening, heard nothing. There was a very busy but well stocked breakfast in the morning.

All staff were pleasant and outgoing. We did not find the parking situation a put-off as some had commented. The housekeeping was inconsistant from day to day as to how the bed was made, dishes washed, toiletries replaced. Quiet room, black out curtains worked very well. Exercise room very nice.

Great Location, Clean & Comfortable and Friendly
An upscale hotel with most of amenities one would expect, minus an attached garage requiring a walk across an alleyway which hurts when you pay $17 per night for the privilege. Fine in good weather but... No ipod connections for in house music but the rooms a well appointed with 34" LCD and pillow top beds to die for. Clean kitchenettes with stainless refrigerator, microwave, granite countertops and disposal sink. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Very nice! Thank you Marriott!

Short restful stay
My fiance and I simply needed a place to stay for one night before flying home from a long trip out West, so we weren't exactly visiting Sacramento. Our room was perfect for any kind of stay as it was like a little studio apartment with a kitchen for a great price. The hotel lobby and our room were fresh, modern and updated in style and quality. The location was excellent and the limited staff interaction we had was positive. I did notice a lack of bellhop or valet, which could be a problem for some guests. The breakfast was above average in selection, but overall your basic, free hot breakfast. I will definitely check for a Residence Inn for my next stay wherever I am traveling, and I hope it meets the value and quality of this location.

Sacramento Capitol area choice
Great location if attending an event at the Convention Center. Advertise that suites are 30% larger than the norm. The usual full breakfast, plus a bar with limited food menu. Accommodating staff. Not fancy, but covers all the basic needs. This was my third stay.

Great Rooms and Locatiion
Beautiful room/suite with kitchen and bedroom. Excellent hot breakfast included. Only problem--and frustrating, was no carts or bellboy on arrival to help us to the room. Don't want to leave car packed with everything in parking garage. Staff unhelpful finding cart or help. Noticed a frail elderly couple using canes later with same problem who just kept waiting for a cart to appear. Also parking is in adjacent parking garage at $17 per day-- didn't expect the extra fee.

The "Capitol Garage" is less than a block away-- a small upscale diner that was open early and late.

Comfortable and convenient
We were in town for the Democratic Convention. Three woman shared a suite that was absolutely perfect: two bedroom, 2 baths, a full kitchen (including dishwasher) and a comfortable living room that overlooked the Capitol rose garden. The breakfast was good, the fitness room was bigger than many hotels I've stayed in, and it was just around the corner from the Convention Center. (Even closer once we found the back entrance to the Center!) We were totally happy with this hotel and will definitely stay there again.

Cafeteria 15L right across the street and Capitol Garage, next door, were very nice restaurants, and couldn't be more convenient. Capitol Garage was louder and a bit more of a younger crowd, 15L was comfortable, very accommodating for our large group and the food--American comfort food--was really good. We loved Lucca, two blocks up J Street. The food was excellent and creative, a bit pricey.

Lacking in a few areas
I arrived at 3:30 pm for a 4 pm check-in only to be told the room was not ready. I gave them my phone number and asked if they could call when it was. After an hour had passed with no call, I returned to inquire and room was ready. There are no valets or bell people at this hotel. It was a Marriott Residence Inn in the downtown of a major city. Front desk person was a bit rude. They tried to charge me for self-parking when it stated directly on the reservation parking was free. I'm not one to complain, ever, and if I was staying at the motel 6 or Super 8, you would hear no complaints, but paying close to $200 / night, one would think one should be treated differently.
