Worth it

I read several positive reviews and the hotel exceeded my expectations. I brought my 2 and 4 year old on a mommy and me get away. I felt safe and comfortable in the hotel. The surrounding neighborhood was a little sketchy, but the quality of the hotel made up for it.

Good stay, great helpful staff

We stayed at the Governor's Inn for one night and they had all the things you could expect from a hotel of this rating, but the staff was extremely friendly. The staff was always willing to help and even those that worked behind the scenes, such as mantenance and cleaning crew were exceptionally friendly. The room was clean and room spacious. Wifi was a bit slow at times and it was located at the edge of Sacramento as opposed to the downtown, which would be my only small complaints.

Very clean and comfortable

The hot tub was "out of order".. that was so disappointing. Other than that, it was a very clean and pleasant place to stay near downtown Sac. It's located in a so- so neighborhood. Not the type of neighborhood you would probably want to take a stroll in, but right by the I-5 on ramp close to everything. Wonderful helpful staff.

leaves something to be desired

The biggest beneift to this hotel is the price. The fact that they will shuttle to and from the airport is also good value. The location is pretty dodgy and there is virtualy nothing around so once your there you are stuck. No restaurants to speak of. I would not likely stay here again.

close to downtown

This is a great budget hotel, close to major freeways and downtown. The room was large (I had kingsize bed) and there was a couch in the room which was nice.

Nice Clean Room - Good Location

Room was clean and had a chair, sofa, and a desk with chair in addition to the bed. It was missing a large bath towel, but I used the smaller towels to dry off. The breakfast was lacking - bagels, yogurt and juice bar - hoping for some fresh fruit at least. Hotel is close to downtown without being there, and easy access to I-5. Good value for the money, with Denny's and McDonald's next door.

JustOK

I like the location of this hotel. It is very close to the downtown area making it a short drive to seeing the downtown sites and shopping. The check in/out was fast and the staff was helpful. The rooms were clean and neat but even with the reviews, the rooms still stink on initial arrival, I brought some Air freshener spray with me and it solved the problem. Biggest issue I had with this property was with the irritations of other clients. In the 2 day stay, I had some college kids partying at 3am on a picnic table that for some reason was outside my window, the next day there was a kids soccer team practicing in the parking lot and kicking balls into my car and I think I had horse in the room above me because it was stomping. If you can put up with this kind of stuff for a nice room at a reasonable cost, this may work out for you.

Bring your gps and bring up the attractions and shopping, you will find you are close to many of them at this property. Also, the traffic in downtown Sacramento is lite on the weekends making it easy to get around. Maybe bring your bike, there are bike paths that run along the river.

Great stay!

This is my first review ever. This hotel was clean, friendly, and all the amenities you would need for a stay. I don't understand why this hotel has only three stars. It is worthy of much more. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone needing a place to stay in Sacramento!

Top Notch Staff, Super Clean, Comfortable Beds

I've stayed a few places around old town Sacramento, but none I've found can match the service at the Governor's Inn. The staff, Genetta, Hope, Heiner, Michael, George, Sarah, Pang, and Toni (the manager#, each really seem to have a real sense of ownership for the place and for their customers. Rooms are large and super clean with high quality furnishings. Great free shuttle to and from the airport #only 15 minutes away). The only downside is the location, which isn't the fault of this hotel, but of the mayor who encourages transients to migrate to Sacramento. The hotel does a great job of keeping them out, but it does look a bit like "The Night of the Living Dead" as night approaches. Stay inside after dark and you are fine. Hotel is highly recommend

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Tons of transients and drunken homeless wondering around the streets near to this hotel. You are safe on the grounds and in the hotel, but stay away from the "night life" that meanders around like a bunch of zombies.
