Wonderful stay at Arden Acres!
My husband and I were traveling to Sacramento for his graduation and needed a place to stay for the week. We were looking to save money and came across Arden Acres - it was perfect! We stayed in a one bedroom cottage (#34) and it was great, perfectly decorated and there was a full kitchen to prepare meals in. There is central air in all of the cottages - a nice feature during the warm months. In the cabinet we found a list of the manager's favorite restaurants, bars, grocery stores, etc. - great for out of towners that don't know where to go! The staff was great, I had to arrange a late check-in and add an extra day for our late flight out and they were more than happy to help. We had requested a full oven if possible, and on the day we were traveling I received an email saying that they'd changed our cottage because one opened up with a full oven in the kitchen. I don't know many places that would be that accommodating! There are laundry facilities in the office, a close line next to the office, a grill area with two charcoal grills and a play area for children. The entrance is gated making the area safe and secure. The I-80 highway is less than a mile away making it a great location if you're planning on doing a lot of traveling. All in all it was a great place and if we ever find ourselves in Sacramento again we would definitely stay there again. WAY better than being cooped up in a hotel room for a week!

Old Sacramento is a great place to visit - it's less than 10 minutes from Arden Acres and there are a lot of shops to browse through. It reminds me of the wild west!

Great Idea!
The owner/manager is wonderful. Friendly, kind and a great sence of humor. She is a real gem and we wish her much success. Although we decided not to stay there because of the poor condition of the neiborhood.

Vacation Cottage Style
Arden Acres is a private, gated complex of small, tastefully furnished cottages situated in a former trailor park site. Each cottage is its own separate unit, so there is the feeling of privacy and quiet that may be harder to find in a hotel. The unit was small but adequate, with just enough in the kitchen to enable cooking meals, plus a full-sized refrigerator. In our one-bedroom unit, there were two televisions, and enough room in the living area for a second person to stay over. The location was great, too--on the outskirts of Sacramento, but close to the highways and not far at all from the airport.

Like staying at a friend's house
Wow, what a wonderful place to come home to after a hectic day of business in Downtown Sacramento. The units are actually individual mobile homes with high, arched ceilings, lots of windows, and wood laminate floors. The staff treat their guests like visiting friends. The owner welcomed me into my unit, showed me around, and even gave me a hug. The location was calm and quiet, except for one morning's unfortunate garbage pick-up at 6:30AM. The bedroom is separate from the living room, with its own door, so it would be great for traveling with two people with different sleep schedules. This was a surprise, because I stayed alone in a "studio." Both the bedroom and living room have their own TVs. The park is technically gated, but one gate is always open.

Our friendly cottage
The cottage was a manufactured home in a gated mobile home park on the North side of Sacramento. The mobile home park is located on a quiet and low-lit residential street which made it some-what worrisome to drive. All of our worries simply disappeared once we arrived at AAC. The mobile home park was well lit, look safe and welcoming. We were greeted by our friendly host who took us to their brand new unit and help us get wired (or wireless). We were the first to occupy the 1 bedroom unit with a 9 foot vaulted ceiling. We loved everything in the new unit except for the dusty floor which we think the construction crew forgot to clean up and gas range, which we think the contruction crew forgot to turn on the main switch. AAC (Arden Acres Cottages)is well situated to major shopping malls (2 miles), the state fair ground (3 miles) and Old Sacramento (< 10 miles). We stayed at AAC for 2 nights. We will definitely return to AAC on your next trip to the Sacramental area.
