All the things we needed!
Lovely hotel right on the beach. My only complaint is that there is no on-premises dining. You can go next door but it was pretty crowded. Other than that, it was a bulls-eye!

Shell Beach trip
I have to say that the fact that we were far from Pismo was a drag. Also the fact that their restaurant was over priced and hardly 4 star. $90 dollars for some marinara sauce over egg noodles with 3 shrimp? Dive food would have been better than that, however the scenic cliff views were gorgeous. All in all probably wouldn't recommend to a friend.

Great stay!
Very nice place to stay. Staff was great and the location was perfect. Rooms were very clean and stocked. We had a "Partial Ocean View" room and it was just that. We could see the ocean nicely from the balcony. Will go back again.

Be sure to hit The Splash Cafe for their chowder. They serve a decent breakfast too. Not at all fancy, more of a beach dive, actually. Fun place!

Cheap Tickets - stigma 2nd Class
I requested 2 queen beds via [...] This request was not honored. I called to confirm the day before our reservations. There was a attitude and comment made to the effect, well you reserved through [...] so what does that mean? Do we get substandards? I don't think $405 was cheap. cheap. First night, Room was noisy, sand bugs in the bed, the alarm clock went off every five minutes from 5:00 a.m. on. The neighbors were slamming their door, the water was cold after running it for 15 minutes. We were moved to another room on our second night, which was much better. However, the next day they starting setting off the fire alarm every few minutes from 10:00 a.m. onward. We did not receive any notice of this upon check in.

Short walk from hotel
There is a great Deli next to the Shell Gas Station, which has outstanding choices of meats, cheeses and a great wine selection and is moderately priced. Great way to avoid expensive meals. It's a very short walk from the hotel. Breakfast is not included and is served in the adjacent building.

Nice resort
Great location, clean, well appointed room. Nice bar area for happy hour. Quiet and peaceful at night. No kids were to be seen or around which was nice since we left ours at home for a romantic getaway. Beach down below is public access, where hotel guests can enjoy and also alot of pleasant college kids. Will bring my dog next time. Had a great time.

Not so special
Unfortunately the staff at this hotel is not trained on how to take care of guests. First, the described scenic mountain view was a noisy parking lot, and our balcony was located directly above the valet drop off. The King bed we had requested was also not available, which was disappointing, but not guaranteed so we were fine with that. However, our room was also located next to the check in station and between that and the valet drop off, the noise level was unbearable. We called the front desk and their solution was that we pay for an upgrade since no other rooms were available. When the noise level did not subside after 10PM we asked again to please be moved and this time a manager called us back. He argued with us about the noise level, and said the only room available for us to get moved into was a suite that was pricier that our room and again said we had to pay an upgrade to sleep there. It was after 10PM, I doubt anyone would have checked in for that room, and all we wanted was a quite place to sleep as we had a day of driving ahead of us. After some more back and forth, he found us another room to move into. We moved that night into the same type of room we had, but on the other side of the hotel. It was quite and we slept great! Why could this not have happened earlier in the evening when we asked for a different room and why was the only solution offered by two different employees the upgrade, when there was obviously a room identical to ours available after all. The staff was a group of young kids with zero problem solving skills and no knowledge of customer service. The first room was a joke for the price we paid. The place was also outdated and lacked your basic hotel comforts like a mini bar and an up-to-date bathroom. Between that and the staff it was the worst hotel experience we ever had.

Enjoyed our stay
We were only there for one night on our way home from Yosemite. Had to wait to check in due to room not ready. When we did check we had to wait in line for 10 minutes. Nice hotel with great view from restuarant.
