Okay for the discounted rat

We booked this motel on Memorial Day weekend and got a discounted rate through an online source. For what we paid it was okay. The cabanas by the pool were really cool. It was crazy filled up with a diverse group of people and a very loud DJ at the pool over the holiday Sunday, but when everyone went home it was awesome. The location was convenient and only a mile or two from town. the decor was interesting. Very retro 60's modern. friendly front desk and accomodatiing staff made it enjoyable. Loved the bar by the pool!

Great Expectations

I had business in Palm Springs and tried to book a hotel at least two months in advance. Everything was either booked up or super high because it was on the weekend of the annual Dinah Shore party. The Curve still had rooms available at much more reasonable price than some other places I had stayed in the past, so I booked it. Their website made the place look incredible for the price. I arrived very early – 10:30 am and asked it I could check in. The front desk agent said that check in time was not until 3, but I could check back at noon and see if anything was available. I went and ate breakfast and returned shortly after noon and they allowed me to check in. Some other people tried to check in at that time also, but there was nothing available for them. The desk agent said they could hang by the pool in the meantime and provided them with towels, which I thought was nice. Upon arriving to my room I will say I was somewhat disappointed, because the website had made the place look so cool. Kudos to the web designer. The pictures on the website showed rooms with hardwood floors, and mine had carpeting. The room was freshly painted, but there were remnants of the old, tired Travel lodge feel, such as the bathroom with a tiny shower. Believe me, I am not a hotel snob, but my expectations were so high because of the slick website. The room had modern art on the walls and a nice flat screen television – it was definitely a step up from some of the bargain chains. They have two pools on the premises, which I didn’t have time to use. The pool area next to the office was very nice with canopies and beds beside it and several people were using it. The other pool was plainer and was basically deserted, which was nice for people that didn’t want to be in the center of the action. No continental breakfast is provided, but there are coffee makers in the room and free coffee in the lobby. The hotel was pretty close to downtown, which was another plus. Overall, my stay was a positive experience, and I would stay at the Curve again, provided the price is right.

It fits the bill.

This was a very economical hotel/motel in the mid-century architectual theme that was perfect for what it is. Nice pool. Decent size room. Everything that we needed.

Bedbugs and Denial

My wife, 20 month-old daughter, and I stayed at this hotel for a night in late February. We were visiting Palm Springs for the first time and wanted to try this hotel since it appeared to be nice, and was featured on the Travel Channel series “Hotel Impossible.” Our stay was relatively uneventful and we left to return home. Two days later my wife and I noticed marks on my daughter's ankles, neck, and hands. These marks did not go away with Vaseline, or Hydocortisone. We brought her to the doctor a couple days later. The doctor immediately asked is we had traveled anywhere and if we used the hotel's crib. We answered yes to both questions and she said that the marks were likely caused by bedbugs. We informed the hotel that day, were unable to speak with the manager, and did not receive a response for over 24 hours. The manager, Jennifer requested a doctor's letter be sent to her. We sent that and photos of her marks. The manager denied the entire incident and refused to take any responsibility. She insists that the bites were not from her hotel after she called in “independent pest control companies.” We are 100 percent sure that she slept nowhere else in months and has not had similar marks since checking out. This hotel is run very poorly, and unprofessionally although what can you expect from a motel conversion. You may not think that this review will apply to you if you don't have a baby in need of a crib but just know that if you do have an issue with this hotel it will be handled with the same lack of courtesy, care, and professionalism. Enjoy Palm Springs while staying elsewhere.

Helpful Info

This was a good motel for the money. The staff was great, especially at the front desk. However, the carpet in our room was quite dirty and we did not feel very comfortable even walking on it.
