Chic, glamorous hotel evokes the feeling of 1960s Palm Springs

Riviera Palm Springs is a luxurious center of ultra-chic cool. The iconic resort underwent an extensive, $70 million renovation that resulted in sumptuous rooms, outdoor fire pits, tented pool, gardens and Thai-inspired spa. The decor is a blend of rich colors and retro furniture, evoking the feeling of 1960s Palm Springs while still offering modern amenities. Riviera Palm Springs combines the best of the past and present, in a property suffused with glamour.

  • Recent major renovations to property and rooms
  • Outdoor fire pits, gardens and tented pool area
  • Thai-inspired spa
  • 1960s era design elements throughout hotel

At Riviera Palm Springs, guests feel like members of Frank Sinatra's Rat Pack. Rooms feature decor and furnishings inspired by the coolness of the 1960s. Funky, high-backed chairs and padded headboards evoke the best of that era, while luxuriant comforters and flat-screen TVs make rooms feel ultra-modern.

Riviera Palm Springs offers a range of room options. The Riviera King guestrooms offer patios or balconies, iPod/DVD/computer stations and luxury bedding. Suites may include separate sitting areas, workstation desks, views of the pool and separate dining area. The two-bedroom Presidential Suite includes a personal patio with fire pit, wet bar and private Jacuzzi.

Distinctive cuisine and cocktails are served at Circa 59 Restaurant, offering eco-friendly fish, premium cuts of meat and locally-grown produce.

In the evening, the illuminated pool area of Riviera Palm Springs transforms into a cocktail party. Servers in bikinis deliver creatively mixed cocktails as guests lounge on oversized futons. A handwoven, thatched hut above the pool deck gives guests the feeling of 1960s Palm Springs.

Riviera Palm Springs 11,000 square-foot spa features exotic Balinese, Thai and Indonesian body treatments designed for relaxation and rejuvenation. The spa boasts 18 therapy rooms, Watsu pool, hot tub, steam room, fitness center and full-service salon.

Amazing weekend

The hotel's nostalgic but contemporary aesthetics create an amazing vibe. The pool is perfect for a lot of sun and fun. Pool wait staff is a bit slow but the pool was at capacity.

Don't pay for valet, parking is very close, also 7-11 across the street for mixers and snacks.

Fantastic hip atmosphere!

This hotel was the perfect combination of hip retro vibe with current contemporary décor with the unexpected around every corner. The restaurant has a cool atmosphere and great cuisine, the pool was fantastic too! I have only one negative, there was no full length mirror in the room. But a full length view was easily had and remedied as a walk through the hotel featured floor to ceiling mirror tiles everywhere. This hotel is cool!

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Melvin's palm springs is a great piece of Americana. Stop for a cocktail! Palm springs is currently building an outdoor shopping center in the heart of the downtown strip and Thursday evenings offer street food and local art and goodies!

The Old Riv

Has a terrific time, resort was very retro and cool environment. Had breakfast at the circa 59. Excellent! Had drinks and dinner at the Side Bar, and again food and service was great. Thank you staff for a good weekend.

higher expectations?

My curiosity since the remodel drew me to reserve a one night stay. Great friendly staff. However, the small essentials such as guest towels, I was unimpressed. Something I expected from a 1star rating. :-(

Riviera

The experience was different. The staff at the front was not inviting to my date. She had stayed there many times for coachella music festival and is used to certain protocols for checking in ie upgrades etc. They did not at first honor this which was weird because it was a wednesday. And we were confronted by a man named marco who was maybe trying to impress some investors he was walking with. We didn't know that we could not consume our own alcohol outside the pool area. The whole thing was not very cool as this was my first time staying with my date and he made me feel silly in front of her. Definitely NOT COOL!

Good Mix of Fun and Relaxation

This is a really fun place. You won't see many people older than 35. It's the kind of place to go with a group of friends. The spa is great, the gym is clean, the pool party on the weekends is a great place to people watch. The rooms aren't amazing but they're clean. However, their beds are fantastic. Went with a buddy and we had a room with two doubles. Each bed had four great pillows plus a fifth in the closet (if needed). The mattress, the sheets, and the comforter were also perfect for the desert weather. The food was also fantastic. The brunch buffet is great and I ordered a club sandwich from room service. This isn't a very quiet place. If you think the sound of hotel room doors closing up and down the hall all night might keep you up at night, then find another place to stay. If you don't want your young kids around tons of girls with surgically-enhanced body parts in way-too-small bikinis, I'd also say find another hotel. But if you don't mind the smell of smoke from certain plants occasionally making it's way into your nostrils from somewhere on the premises or the sound of a running toilet then I would highly recommend it.

Nothing wrong, but pricey for a basic experience

The room was spacious, and clean, but nothing special. Service was good, and the pool was good. There was no minibar in the room, or anything special about the accommodation. Nothing wrong, but pricey for a standard, basic hotel experience.

Horrible

This was the worst experience i have ever had. the resort was bad. the pool was filthy the air conditioning went out in the middle of the night and we woke up to our room at 82 degrees and in palm springs when the weather is 100 degrees it is unacceptable. the hallways smelled so bad like someone died. VERY POOR for a resort with supposedly the best reputation in palm spring. the bar staff was horrible from the servers, bar tender, to the manager were all drunk and messy. the server was making out on the side of the bar. this place is disgusting i will never stay at this resort (Riviera Palm Springs) the manager heard from the server how we felt but still never thought to come over and speak with us he and the servers were whispering and laughing. He (the manager) should really learn how to manage and deal with upset customers who are spending money. we would have ordered more than one round of drinks if we werent that concerned if they would put anything in our drinks. i truly cant believe how they run this resort. i would never recommend the Riviera resort to anyone its a wast of money and its trashy. i was so disgusted i had to check out of my room a day early and switch resorts last minute. WHAT A JOKE!! Dont waste your money here, their are way better resorts to stay at in Palm Springs than this dump of a resort and you wont have trashy drunk employees. like i said dont stay here as you will be greatly disappointed and you may end up checking out early with no refund like i did. i couldnt stay in a place like this another day it was that BAD.

Bachelorette Weekend

We had a great time overall this weekend... but it didn't go off without a hitch! The hotel itself is beautiful... lots of cool stuff everywhere, lots of colors, new/fresh looking... it could use a good carpent cleaning and an air conditioner that goes lower than 75 but it was a pretty big sized room and, the best part of all, it had awesome DJs at the lobby bar Saturday night. We danced the night away! Too bad some of the bar staff, and security staff could seem to care less about the guests but, like I said, overall a great time. I would stay here again, on an upper floor, with lower expectations!
