Building and furnishings are old...

The Quality Inn must've been a really nice place ten years ago--the layout is great, and the pool area is fantastic. Unfortunately, the building is aging poorly--there was heavily peeling exterior paint and large dips in the floor, all caused by wood rot, and there were small broken tidbits here and there like light switches, door latches, etc. Also, on my first day, it turns out the cleaning staff had missed a used towel left in a easy-to-miss place by the previous guest. Understandable but still gross. It seems the owner is repairing/replacing furniture, as the garbage area had stacks of old furniture being thrown out, and the TVs were brand new, so things may improve in the near future. But they will have a hard time replacing the wooden beams under the floor any time soon, so the floor may remain unpleasant to walk on for the foreseeable future. The staff was friendly and helpful. I'd stayed in much newer lodgings nearby for only $10 more per night, so I'd probably not return.

Adequate alternative for families

It is close to the ACE hotel and that was my main hangout. Clean and staff was very attentive specially Mr Lara Decor and room are very dated. But there was nothing objectionable otherwise. They had reasonable prices and availability on Memorial Day weekend, I could not ask for more.

You Get What You Pay For

Came to Palm Springs for one night. Super last minute decision and Quality Inn was one of the few hotel locations that had vacancy. And it was less than $80 a night - which is what I wanted. Ideally, I would have wanted to stay at Ace Hotel, The Parker, or Viceroy, but for one night, it just wasn't worth it, even if they had vacancy. Pluses: 1) Comfy pillows 2) Immediate hot water running 3) A/C 4) Mini fridge 4) A block away from Ace Hotel 5) Right next to Carrows Restaurant 6) A short drive into downtown, shopping areas, and other major conveniences. Downers: 1) You have to turn on the TV with the power button on the TV. No remote. 2) All the buttons on the remote only did ONE thing, change the channels backwards. Volume up or down = channel down. Channel 2 = channel down. Power on/off = channel down. 3) Hair dryer worked for 5 seconds before breaking down. 4) Don't forget your toothpaste. They provide shampoo, conditioner, and lotion only. The room even has a sign that says if you need other amenities to ask the front desk. We asked and the man at the front desk and he said that housekeeping is gone for the night and he doesn't know where they keep them. STUPID! 5) MAYBE this review deserves 2 stars....but I really liked their pillows, so 3 stars it is.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

1) Palm Springs doesn't have many late night eats unless you want Del Taco. So having Carrows Restaurant right next to the hotel was a major bonus! and 2) A good way to budget is have a cheap but satisfying meal at Carrows and then eat REALLY good somewhere else.

very nice

Room was clean. Bed was nice with the extra pillows! Service was pleasant and staff were great. The pool area was nice and had plenty of chairs and tables and shaded areas. The motel is a short drive to old downtown and all the nice outdoor restaurants. I would definately stay there again. There is a fridge in the room but one downside is there is no microwave.

Good enough

Pretty much what I expected; decent, inexpensive place to spend the night on our way to AZ. Convenient location. On the return home, however, found a much better hotel for around the same price about 10 min. walk from downtown PS (recommended by friends).

The original Las Casuelas is a good place to go for Mexican. It's next to Torme's, which has jazz.
