Polynesian-themed hotel with mountain views in Palm Springs
Caliente Tropics Resort is all about fun, relaxation and comfort. The hotel is one of the finest remaining examples of the Tiki and Polynesian-themed Palm Springs hotels built in the 1960s, and has hosted celebrities such as Elvis and Frank Sinatra. Could use some improvement
It looks old and untended. Wi-fi didn't work for some reason although it looked like everything was connected properly. AC didn't work, fridge did not work either. The only plus was very comfy bed. If I will go in the area again I definitely look for some other place to stay.

Nice, relaxing place!
Really a lovely resort hotel with a very friendly, helpful staff. Nice pool area. The rooms are clean, modern and very secure with all new hi tech locks. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The only criticism I would have would be the spotty, unreliable WIFI. They were very nice to let me use their hotel computer. Currently the restaurant and bar are under construction but some nice restaurants in the area.

Great stay especially for the price
Better than I expected.Comfortable bed, and a coffeemaker and fridge were welcome. Also a gym. Just a mile south of downtown

Go check out the Giant Marilyn Monroe. Statue in town. Also A lot of great hiking and biking near by.

Not There Yet
Staff absent from front desk when I called a couple of times. They are making a comeback, as they said, but they're not there yet. Still, the price was right. Some will not like that the tv sets are old school, but I was not there to watch tv. It was quiet, less than half full. The ice machine nearest my room was broken, so had to walk a fair distance to get ice. Message blinker blinked all the while i was there but no message. Notified desk, but it did not get fixed.

Overnite Visit
The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms can use a upgrade, replace tube tv's with small flat screen and maybe recover sitting chair with a bright color. Had to use chair to reach air conditioner to change temperature and air conditioner had thick amt of dust on it so screen filters probably need to be replaced or cleaned. The bed was comfortable the shower was big and the room was clean overall and nice to have a fridge in the room.

I would absoutly stay at this hotel again! The pool was very clean and the second biggest in Palm Springs! Tacarra at the frount desk was very friendly and patient (i could be a very challenging) My room was soooo nice and very reasonable priced!!!! next november when i come back with my whole family we are sure to stay here because its the perfect place for a big family gathering!!!! and its pet friendly!! I would come back just to visit TACARRA!!! Hopping to see a shark tank in the lobby!!!!

Convenient Paradise
I travelled to Palm Springs to do some hiking in the desert. I didn't have a car and had to reply on public transportation. One of the hotel's staff, Stephan, really helped me out, letting me store my bicycle and bag at the hotel while I was out and about exploring. One of the days I was in the city Caliente was fully booked and Maritza helped me find an alternative for very cheap. Really excellent staff. Very friendly and welcoming, to the point where I felt I had known them for years. As for the room and pool: WOW. I looked around the city quite a fair bit on my bike and I can honestly say there is no other hotel that is this clean, stylish, and just downright comfortable. The rooms have recently been redone, the pool has plenty of palm trees so you can find shade from the hot sun and they have this really great grass covered barbeque area with a Polynesian feel. I came alone but I will come back with friends just to use that space for a nice little party. It's really a secret oasis in the middle of Palm Springs, and the price: you can't beat it anywhere in the city. Hands down. I am really grateful to the friendly staff at Caliente for making me feel so at home on my little solo adventure. Will never forget their kindness. Thanks so much.
