Polynesian-themed hotel with mountain views in Palm Springs
Caliente Tropics Resort is all about fun, relaxation and comfort. The hotel is one of the finest remaining examples of the Tiki and Polynesian-themed Palm Springs hotels built in the 1960s, and has hosted celebrities such as Elvis and Frank Sinatra. Updated for the 21st century with modern amenities like free Wi-Fi, Caliente Tropics Resort retains the zesty feel of a Tiki lounge, while extending luxury and convenience to guests. The hotel features one of the largest pools in the area, surrounded by cabanas and pool deck.

Caliente Tropics is a great value
Friends drove out from LA and stayed at the chain motel next door and were floored when I told them the price I paid - less than that bargain chain and my room was nicer, bigger and even the furniture was nicer! Staff, especially the cleaning staff was very courteous and solicitous. It would be my preferred place on a future visit.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
Make sure you visit Indian Canyons, a total surprise I had never heard of and was amazed to see. Thousand year oldpalm trees along springs that heloed give Palm Springs its name. Also check out the art museum, guite impressive for a relatively small city.

weekend getaway
Very nice hotel for a nice getaway. Beds were soft and the room was clean. AC worked great. Would stay there again.

Relaxing, Fun in the Sun
We were there for one night, saturday to sunday, and arrived early and were delighted to hear our room was ready. We dropped our bags and headed straight to the pool with our cooler and drinks (stopped at the ice machine on the way). Used the towels from the room as the front desk was out, but they came around an hour later to replenish. The pool was super chill - no one patrolling and asking you to put your drinks away as long as you're responsible and not obnoxious. We made new friends with some others. Brian, the manager, gave us great tips for the evening so we spent some time out and about. The next day, we were able to get a late check out for a small fee, so we got a second day by the pool - awesome! All in all, the hotel is a little old school, but has had a recently renovated lobby. The restaurant that was there was also renovated, but never reopened so the space is open, and a little out of place. Our room was a king suite, so it was spacious with a separate living area. A little dated, but still spacious and comfortable. Overall, had a great time and would like to go back!

The place was fine, service acceptable and value was also OK, but the little things were not up to par--really bad coffee for the coffee maker--the water tasted salty and of minerals--sound proofing between walls wasn't all that great. Although it was OK, I'm not sure I'd go there again.

Great Value, But May Be Slipping
We had stayed here once before and were very impressed with the value, pool, decor and service. This time they had spent a lot of money remodeling the lobby and bar (which is no longer open) which didn't seem finished (no outlet covers, shower curtains for doorways). Our room which impressed us on the last visit now showed some wear and tear . The pool is fantastic, but you'll have to beg for a towel. Biggest problem was the front desk which was always understaffed and people are waiting in line, sometimes after a lengthy drive, while the clerk takes lengthy phone reservations (who makes reservations by phone these days?)

Comfortable,Affordable, Great Location
The only thing I didn't like was they had no rooms ready until after 4pm which I found very inconvenient.
