Polynesian-themed hotel with mountain views in Palm Springs
Caliente Tropics Resort is all about fun, relaxation and comfort. The hotel is one of the finest remaining examples of the Tiki and Polynesian-themed Palm Springs hotels built in the 1960s, and has hosted celebrities such as Elvis and Frank Sinatra. Basic motel
Swimming pool was a pleasant amaneity given the location (no beach) and climate (almost always sunny). Stayed three nights. Room make-up service did mot materialise on one day. This motel has seen better days. Lobby area and facilities are run down. It certainly is not an unpleasant place to stay.

Very pleased indeed
Had not heard about Caliente from anyone, but took a chance. We were pleasantly surprised...very friendly staff, great location near downtown Palm Springs.

Palm Springs - relaxing oasis
Our stay in Palm Springs was great. We visited the Joshua Tree National Park which is amazing. We saw the sunset and did a great trail on the next day. The pool and Jacuzzi in the Caliente Tropics Resort were just perfect for our sore feet and we had a great time there. Its a great hotel for that price. Its a little bit off restaurants etc. but if you have a car its a great place to stay!

Pleasantly surprised.
We got a great rate online to stay at this hotel- right in the middle of Spring Break so of course I was a little nervous... but it turned out great! The room was pretty standard... but nice, and comfortable, the pool was wonderful, the staff were very accommodating, location was perfect... close to downtown and various hiking spots. The major drawback for me was that they had a beautiful lobby area that could have served as a nice cafe and a perfect bar area in the back overlooking the pool- but both areas were closed down... you could walk through- but there was nothing in there but dust, an empty bar and booths... what a bummer. Will it ever re-open?

Nice getaway weekend with the pup!
It was very pleasant. Our first time traveling with our puppy and he loved it! The rooms were nice and big. The pool area and dog park were very well kept. We will be coming back!

Hey it's Palm Springs
If you need to be close to town and don't golf this works. Staff was great. Pool area is very nice. Resort...sort of implies you don't need to leave for anything. There is no bar, there appears to have been one complete with a place for a band. No food, but you have a fridge and places to eat are close. They look like they are starting some upgrades. Decent place for the price. Would stay there again.

The Even Couple
Find somewhere else.
Cons: No internet and no hot water in the room (just barely warm), stained carpet, no restaurant or bar open. Pros: comfy bed, friendly helpful staff and lovely pool. There are so many choices in Palm Springs, so there is no need to settle for less that fabulous.

Required prepayment then you arrive and they require $100 fee added to your credit card when the room is trashed? I don't like that!

Mid century tiki cool
I really love the mid 60s style to this hotel. When we visited the restaurant/bar had not yet opened but we saw the decor and I think this is going to give the Ace a run for its money in hipster ranking. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. Over all, the design re haul is impressive and the room prices are fantastic in comparison to other hotels. Get your floral shirts on and start sipping Pina coladas by the pool.

FALSE ADVERTISING !!!!!
We booked this hotel after reading that they had a restaurant on site "Mexican" and a bar and also a pool bar on the weekends. When we arrived at the hotel looking around we did'nt see a restaurant, just booths where there could have been one at somepoint. We saw an inside bar and when my girlfiend went to take a look all that was there were bar stools but no bar. When we asked at the front desk if they had the restaurant and bars the check-in person looked totally suprised and said that they haven't had a bar nor restuarant for a long time. I mentioned it was on there own website !!! HUH?WE LEFT and went to the Riviera "AWESOME"
