Nice, relaxing place!
Really a lovely resort hotel with a very friendly, helpful staff. Nice pool area. The rooms are clean, modern and very secure with all new hi tech locks. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The only criticism I would have would be the spotty, unreliable WIFI. They were very nice to let me use their hotel computer. Currently the restaurant and bar are under construction but some nice restaurants in the area.

Caliente Tropics is a great value
Friends drove out from LA and stayed at the chain motel next door and were floored when I told them the price I paid - less than that bargain chain and my room was nicer, bigger and even the furniture was nicer! Staff, especially the cleaning staff was very courteous and solicitous. It would be my preferred place on a future visit.

Make sure you visit Indian Canyons, a total surprise I had never heard of and was amazed to see. Thousand year oldpalm trees along springs that heloed give Palm Springs its name. Also check out the art museum, guite impressive for a relatively small city.

Family getaway
When i called to make the reservation the gentleman that helped to to book the hotel was very nice and super helpful. Hotel was cool but not clean. They allowed people to hang out by the pool and drink until midnight but next morning by 9 am pool area wasn't clean at all and looked like a war field. It is a nice hotel and they need to keep it more organized and clean. if you ask me if i would stay again I would say yah why not. Life is too short to spend my time complaining.

Great location, pool area, lanai, views
We checked in early and were given towels for the pool while we waiting for the room to be cleaned; staff provided extra pillows, and were very nice and helpful. The pool area is awesome surrounded by Palms. Armon "Chief Engineer" did a great job maintaining the pool and was very friendly. The Lanai was really relaxing in the late evenings. The south location is very close to the main downtown activities and an easy drive to Rancho Mirage and Cathedral City. The towering San Jacinto mountains provided a really nice background and was really pretty too. We had a fantastic stay and are planning our next trip to Palm Springs and Caliente Tropics. Only negative I can think of is the choppy WiFi, but I think a simple range extender would fix that issue.

Nice one night stop
Palm Springs was more like a stop in our trip from San Diego to Las Vegas but we've been nicely surprised! Every Thursdays they close the main street and have a fair with local artisans and fresh fruits, dancers, musicians, jewels and so on. So we enjoyed the pool from the hotel and went there at night! The hotel was common, nothing to complain about, nothing outstanding either.. They never check if people respect the closing time for the pool though (obnoxious, drunk people until 1 or 2am...)

Not going back!
Pulled, couldn't find anyone to check us in for 5 min. The restaurant in the front of hotel is closed down and they check you in from there?? Slightly confusing at first. The guy working there was nice and did ok with what he had to work with which wasnt much. Door on our room was hard to lock, air conditioning was loud and scared my kid everytme it went on. Pool was disgusting!

Great experience
I was looking for an inexpensive place to stay for the week while I was in Palm Springs at a business convention. I needed a place close to downtown, that when I came back I could comfortably rest and and do my follow up work at. The Caliente Tropics was better than I expected. Great room, quiet, nice bed, an AC that worked well, good pool, and nice staff. My only complaint is that the water pressure in the shower was weak and could be better, but other than that, the place is great.
