Alcazar originally opened as The Pepper Tree Inn in 1950 and now in 2011 this 34-room boutique hotel has undergone a thoughtful and exquisite redesign. . Alcazar is Modern & sleek while respecting its original Spanish Colonial architecture. Featuring imported Italian Linens, flat screen TVs, fireplaces, poolside patios, salt water pool and beautiful mountain views. Hotel amenities include Daily fresh pastries from Cheekys, Intelligentsia coffee, Townie Bikes, Business center, wireless internet and parking. . Inside the gated lush grounds there are cooling misters, soft music, canvas umbrellas and poolside loungers. The unique rooms and suites surround the pool area. Most with their own fireplace, private terrace and/or in room Jacuzzi tubs. . Alcazar is located in the uptown design district which is in the middle of huge revival featuring some of the best in mid-century furniture and design boutiques, Art galleries, clothing shops and an eclectic range of great restaurants and bars all within walking distance . This is the third addition to the much buzzed about Birba and Cheekys family of restaurants making the triangle complete. Alcazar embodies the best of Palm Springs past and future. You can expect a relaxed, unpretentious and thoughtful desert experience. This is a place where urban dweller, world traveler, artist, young or experienced come and mingle, exchange ideas, relax, play and eat together.

Perfectly white

This place is different than most hotels in a good way because the room is all pure white. It definitely looks good and very clean. Aside from the room, the place is right next to downtown palm spring so you can just walk from this hotel and enjoy the nightlife without worrying about driving. Additionally, the staff was excellent.

Would definately return

The hotel was great. The staff was friendly and courteous. The Manager (a little creepy). But all in all it was a nice place to stay. Cable TV and Pay Preview would have been nice to have. My boyfriend and I thnk that should be added. I highly reccomend the bar area Birba. As far as the restaurant... Cheeky's, NO WAY!!!! These were the unhappiest set of employees I have ever had to deal with. Not one waitress or waiter knew how to smile. They were rude, acted like they did not want ot be there. There are so many other places in Plam Springs to eat. Please choose another restaurant to eat at.

what a gem!

Staff and stay was beyond our expectations! The room was large and comfortable. We had a beautiful walled patio with a sitting area and gorgeous flowers. The jacuzzi was very relaxing after a long day of driving.

Will be staying here time and time again!

My boyfriend and I stayed here overnight and couldn't be happier with our experience. The Alcazar is a beautiful, modern, and charming hotel. The rooms are very simplistic, which I love, and have the most comfortable down comforters imaginable. The staff was very accomodating, allowing us to check-in 2 hours before the posted check-in time and allowing for late check-out. Despite the fact the rooms are all white and have plantation shutters, it stayed dark in our room until we managed to get out of bed, around 11am! The pool is very relaxing and over-sized beach towels were provided. It's location couldn't be any better...super close to downtown and fine eateries. I look forward to coming back here in the near future!

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

We stayed Sunday-Monday...Palm Springs turns into quite the ghost town after about 9pm. Buy any adult beverages or snacks you may want to enjoy at your room early, or you'll be spending all your $$ at the bar!

Relaxing hideaway

Just got back from a couple nights at the Alcazar. The hotel was clean and quiet and accommodating. My boyfriend and I loved the heated saltwater pool (warm enough to swim in on a chilly, overcast evening in February) and the overall look of the hotel. Our room was nice and large, and we appreciated that the hotel provided bicycles free of charge. We will definitely return! This place is a steal.

A Great Boutique Hotel

My husband and I prefer small boutique hotels whenever possible because they're unique, have friendlier staff, and good locations. The Alcazar is a winner on all counts. Our room was huge, The hotel's decor was inventive and striking - all white with black accents. A heated salt water pool, whirlpool, and lovely sitting area was just steps from our door. The Hotel offered the complimentary use of bikes, and was adjacent to one of our favorite restaurants, Cheekies. The manager was welcoming and even told my husband how to build a duplicate of one of the water features on the property when we both admired it. I would highly recommend this hotel.

There are at least eight very good restaurants within a short walk of the hotel, and the Thursday evening Street Festival is just a little further away.

Not Fair

The hotel may have been nice, however we aren't sure. We stayed at Alcazar Hotel during a wind storm in Palm Springs. The power was knocked out all night. Other places around us got power back but the hotel did not. Although not their fault, it made our stay miserable. We had to go out and buy a flash light just to see in the room. The staff did not seem very apologetic about the situation.

stop the trucks!

We liked this 50s era updated hotel. It is attractive and comfortable and near the main drag. However, our room backed onto a busy street and the very loud sound of traffic made it nearly impossible to go to sleep. I finally dozed off at around 3:30 Am. I would return but I would demand to be lodged in a section of the hotel that does not back onto that very busy street. The hotel room we were in was in the 30s series so stay away from there if you stay there.

Nice Boutique Hotel at a Good Price

This is a lovely boutique hotel nestled in a great location that's close to downtown and right behind the amazing breakfast spot Cheeky's and the new high end pizza/bar Birba. It's quaint and cozy and the grounds (especially the pool/jacuzzi area) are pretty and relaxing. Like most boutique hotels, none of the rooms look or feel the same and the quality/size varies a great degree. Make sure you ask lots of questions about where you're specifically being situated before you arrive.
