NOT WORTH THE $$$

I researched hotels and thought that this place was a deal, but oh was I wrong. This place was not worth the money and was a huge disappointment. I am glad that we only paid $95 [...], because this place was horrible. First off, this place looks like a motel. It doesn't look like a nice, rennovated, beautiful hotel. There is a long row of rooms right next to each other and a few cottages. I'm not sure how people got cottages, those might have been nicer. The room was SO SMALL; almost to the point of clostrophobia. This place wasn't recently renovated, it was only given a facelift. It had horribly done tile floors with horrible grout lines and looked unprofessional. The shower looked like it was from the 1980's and was probably taken from a college dorm. There were holes all over the walls that weren't filled (from pictures and mirrors) and there was no door stopper, so it went straight into the huge crater in the wall it had created. The worst part was the PAPER THIN walls. We heard one couple on one side of us having a conversation and could hear every word. We heard a guest on the other side urinating in the toilet with bad bad gas....all night long. It was horrible. My husband and I were actually laughing out loud because we couldn't believe we paid 100 bucks for this place and had to listen to someone farting. And one more thing, you cannot lock the top dead bolt lock when you leave (it is only locked from the inside), which doesn't make any sense. So, when you leave for the day or the night and leave your laptops, expensive cameras, jewelry, etc inside, thieves are just a small door nob lock away from stealing it all. Now, that's just crazy. The bad list goes on and on...DO NOT STAY HERE.

nOTHING TO RECOMMEND AT SEA BREEZE

We stayed at the Sea Breeze Inn & Cottages in Pacific Grove, and it was one step up from The Bates Motel. The only thing that was missing was the mummified mother in the upstairs bedroom. The walls were so thin that we could hear the people in the next room thinking. Nobody ever steals the towels because they are thinner than a sheet of Bounty Paper towels. The tv was about 25 years old,but the room was clean an tidy. The only good thing was that the people working there were very nice, especially Misty who was at the front desk in the evening. And I forgot to mention that the raccoon that was at our room door on Friday night was very cute.

pretty lousy

For the prices charged, it is a pretty lousy deal. Don't try to find it without a GPS! A very basic room, flimsy towels, an office/receiption/breakfast room that does not open until 8am, and when it does you get half-muffins and coffee with standing room only for 3. Pay a little more and get a decent hotel!

Terrible, dirty and very misleading description/photos

It is a dump. There were dirty towels piled in the shower. The heat didn't work. In spite of the picture of a cottage, 90% of the place was a cheap, conventiona motel. I would never recomend it to anyone and my experience has damaged my faith in you as a reliable site. John Treat

disappointing

The Sea Breeze Inn and Cottages was a very big disappointment in our vacation. The room was dirty, the drain in the shower was clogged and the hotel staff could not give us reliable directions to reach the hotel. It was a very bad experience and I would not recommend this facility.

Disappointing breakfast

The Sea Breeze Inn and Cottages greatly disappointed us in that which concerned the breakfast. There was not much choice, no milk, no place to sit down, and it started at 8 a.m. which was too late -- 7:00 would have been much more convenient. We also would have appreciated having the parking spot in front of the room (or at least nearby) reserved for us, since it was otherwise difficult to find a spot and we were very far from our room, which was not convenient as far as the luggage was concerned. The room was comfortable, the staff was efficient. The location was very good for visiting Disneyland. However, unless things are changed as far as breakfast is concerned, we would not stay there again.

thin walls

Visiting family in Monterey booked last minute. The walls were so thin we could hear everything that was going on in the next rooms, including the conversation at 1AM. Probably won't use this hotel again.

Room and hot tub/pool issues

When I checked into my hotel room, the toilet and sink stopper were not working. Hotel maintenance staff fixed it two hours later. The hotel is divided by a non-lighted, two-lane, busy, major avenue with no nearby crosswalk. If you are staying on the east side of the street, you have to dodge traffic to use the hotel's hot tub and swimming pool on the west side. This is most dangerous at night. I became lost driving to the hotel, as Lighthouse Avenue is broken by another street and re-emerges many blocks later. When I called the hotel front desk from my cell phone, the on-duty clerk could not give me sufficient dirrections to find the hotel. I found the hotel only by luck. The small hotel room was not worth the price.
