Nice get-away place

We love to say here. Nice and clean. We have stayed twice before. This time we stayed in a completely renovated room which was very nicely done except that the fresh paint odor was fairly strong. The breakfast they offer is wonderful.

Overpriced

I think the only reason why this hotel can charge those prices is because it is in Pacific Grove. I found the place to be in need of some renovations- a little grungy. We were first going to stay in a queen room, but we upgraded because the room was so dark and small. The room with two full beds was better, but certainly not worth the price.

Great location

Room was OK with very soft bed, microwave, frig and old TV. All doable and function able. Breakfast was on time and fresh. Overall a rustic facility without much updating but works. Took a queen room at lower price which was worth it but not sure I would spend the asking price for bigger rooms. Location was the best part. Walk to ocean.

Nothing like the pictures

The location and pictures of rooms are nothing like it seems. The location is far from coast and pictures of rooms do not depict the type of rooms. With that said, we would have fine as long as we knew the clear info during booking rather than "finding it out". We were also discouraged to book via 0rbitz, so when attempting to book via hotel, they said no vacancy. Then when booked via 0rbitz, they expressed frustration as to why we booked 0rbitz despite being told no vacancy. Clearly there was vacancy.

Hotel Review

The rooms set aside for your company were not good. The first room they sent us to, the towel rack fell off the wall and the blinds didn't open. Room 165. We advised them the room needed to be changed so they wanted $20 more per night. The gal seemed pretty rude about it and advised she could get the maintenance folks in to repair the room. It should be ready before guests arrive. We got the other room but had to get one where they allowed animals. Nails sticking out of the walls and just really in need of major overhaul. I have photos. The room wasn't worth $200+ per night. We will never stay there again. 2nd room overlooked a cemetery and had no curtains (see through sheers only). The kids partying the 2nd night after the barking dog left could see us while they were running around the cemetery. I guess to get a repaired nice room at this place we need to call them direct.

Reserved Rooms Are Bad

Our stay at the Lighthouse Lodge could have been better. Granted we made reservations for the Labor Day weekend only 2 weeks ahead, but after checking in, we discovered the “queen room” we had been assigned did not match with the on-line description. There was no microwave and no mini-refrigerator. After complaining, we were moved to the room next door. The lighting in the room was terrible. One light over the top of the door and one bedside lamp. The other half of the room was dark. It made reading impossible. We had to keep the bathroom light on and the curtains open so we could see. When checking out we inquired about the cost of the larger rooms (double doubles) during the off season. We were told they varied and that we should check on line but this site only reserves the “queen rooms” and that we should check one of the other on-line booking sites since they booked all the other rooms and cottages. That’s what we intend to do. We want to try the Lighthouse Lodge again since the location is great, it’s quiet, restaurants are close, and the shore and lighthouse are just a short walk away.

Peaceful

The negatives- we never had enough towels and washcloths in our room for a family of four and the continental breakfast was very pathetic. The positives- it was in a quiet peaceful location, the room was spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Was not happy, we booked a new hotel...

When I booked this trip I was ecstatic. We were booking a room that had a fireplace, a small walk to the beach, large vaulted ceilings, tons of room, a kind sized bed and a tub and shower. It looked clean, spacious and pretty. When we arrived though, they pointed us to our room. It was $189 a night and looked like a hostel. We walked over to the corner building, opened the door and were awes struck... it was TINY! The bed was one of those old gross covers not the comforters it pictured.. no fireplace, the room was the size of the double bed and the shower looked like a KOA campground shower. We were grossed out and not happy! We immediately called on our booking for a full refund. We ended up at another hotel down the street. They gave us a HUGE discount for a kind sized bed, large room with a HUGE jacuzzi tub. This hotel was not as pictured.
