Great Hotel, totally worth it!

My boyfriend and I planned a trip to the Bay Area to catch a SF Giants game and the 49ers game. At first we were looking to stay in SF but the prices were way too outrageous for our pockets, so we looked into staying in Oakland since it was in the middle of SF and Santa Clara. Although I haven’t heard the best stories about Oakland we took a chance and boy are we happy we did. Now mind you, we didn’t spend any time in Oakland or walk around the area so this is solely on our hotel experience. Our flight was earlier than the hotel allowed for check in (policy states 3pm check-in and we got there at 1:00pm) yet we got absolutely no hassle for asking to check in early. The lady who helped us at the front desk had a smile from the moment we saw her and had a great personality. She checked us in right away, explained to us in detail the amenities of the hotel and where the public transportation was. When we got to the room everything was fantastic. It was super clean, we had a decent view (corner room so we had a view of both sides). One side was all buildings, the other was a view of the bay bridge and the bay. The only thing missing was a safe for our items while we were gone all day. Every staff members we encountered had a smile on their face and always greeted us. The room we had was quiet and clean and we were walking distance to the Bart and a 3 minute taxi ride to the Amtrak. If we ever plan a trip like this again we would totally stay here. Even if we go just to SF we said we would stay here. For the price and a 10minute Bart ride into the city, why pay more to stay in SF when you can stay in this nice hotel for 1/2 the price. Again, we didn’t walk around the area where the hotel was mainly because we were either in SF or Santa Clara the whole time, so i can’t speak on how good or bad the surroundings were, but if you only care about where you are sleeping, i would really recommend staying here.

Good home away from home

Easy to communicate with staff. They offer enough personal attention for an average traveller. I cannot find anything wrong with them. Other than that, they are not eager to make them an exceptional hospitality operator. It is a job to them and they want to make it acceptable to everyone.

Fitting for the location

The hotel was just fine. Clean rooms, clean bathrooms, and very very friendly waitstaff. The decor was straight out of the 90s but I guess that's what you should expect going to the Marriott in Downtown Oakland. It was an overall enjoyable experience.
