Extended Stay America Oakland - Emeryville

I stayed here for 5 days and it was horrible! No room service at all. We had no clean towels and no one to pick up my garbage. I could not even get someone to change my sheets because it was against "policy." This was the worse experience I have ever had. I would never stay here again and definitely would not recommend it to anyone else.

This is a good value for its location. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The beds were a bit hard but I would stay here again.

Room was functional,clean spacious but sparcely furnished with well worn items. Definitely not luxurious but definitely fit my budget. Everything worked in kitchenette. Perfect for access I needed to UC Berkeley as well as shopping to get my son settled in freshman dorm. This site was perfect for all that as well as access to the airport and San Francisco. Close to the SanFrancisco Bay Trail with absolutely stunning views of the bay, bridge, downtown and surrounding hills.

This hotel looks a lot nicer from the outside - the inside is shabby and run-down. Can't believe it's described as newly renovated - what was it like before?? There is graffiti here and there, and I actually felt a little nervous about the time I spent there alone. However, the room was comfortable and well-equipped (although if there was a hair dryer I never found it), and we slept well (with the windows closed, because we were right next to an extremely busy freeway interchange). The breakfast is minimal - no breakfast room, just coffee etc., packaged muffins and granola bars in the lobby. The location would be very convenient for a long-stay traveler, as it's in a shopping center with Target, a supermarket etc.etc. There are a lot of hotels in this area, and I've stayed at many of them. This would certainly not be my first choice, but I would stay there again if necessary.

I interned in San Francisco and was placed in this housing from June 6 to August 10, 2011. My first night there I woke up in the middle of the night scratching and found that my bed was infested with bed bugs. I complained to the front desk and they were not surprised. Apparently this happens all the time. They switched my room but that was not the end of my bad experience. Almost every single time they changed my sheets I found blood stains. My fridge either froze all my food or it leaked. Every single time I cooked, the fire alarm went off even when I followed their instructions to open all the windows, turn on the stove fan, AND turn on the bathroom fan. The pans were the worst pans ever - terrible quality and burnt all my food. The cleaning service hardly came when they were supposed to so I had to constantly take my sheets and towels to the front desk and change them myself. One of my stove tops was broken and never fixed. My telephone was broken and fixed 3 weeks later. The hallways smelled of cigarette and drug smoke and/or food. The management was very rude and did not care about my well-being or happiness. Their employees were actually quite pleasant. Nicole is such a doll. The cleaning staff and night staff is rude. The security guard is never there at night as was promised. The people that stay in the hotel are ghetto. Very very ghetto. They are loud and rude. Some of them are drug dealers and loiter in front of my room window (I'm on the first floor). The others are drug addicts, I'm sure. They seem to be always high on crack or crystal meth. The hallways and elevators are dangerous. A few times men followed me into the hotel and I was very afraid - this was one of the nights that the security guard was not there (no surprise there). And to top that off, I washed my clothes in the laundry on the premises and when I went to pick it up, IT HAD BEEN STOLEN! I was upset and filed a complaint with the front desk and they said they would talk with their insurance company. But since I left the clothes unattended while they dried, they said they could not reimburse me. I lost $1,000 worth of clothes and all they could say was I'm sorry because apparently they do not have any security cameras. This was honestly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It needs to be shut down immediately!

Close to Emeryville Mall

I wanted to watch Dr. Oz but only 8 channels none local. I paid over 100.00 and they wanted extra $ for internet. I went to take shower but no shampoo. There is a flashing light above the bed all day & night

I have utilized this hotel chain during all my business trips; however this Extended Stay Hotel was a disgrace to the chain. The staff couldn't find my reservation so after a six hour trip I had to wait 20 minutes to check in. Once in the room, I discovered that it was dirty and even had a foul odor. The bathtub didn't hold water and when I brought the matter to the hotel clerk his reply was, "then just take a shower." In addition, two fights broke out by individuals who I later found out actually live there on a daily basis. I guess that is what they mean by "Extended Stay." There were several dogs and cats running on my floor (I stayed on the fourth floor) which I assume belonged to those individuals who lived there. I would never stay at this hotel again. I do believe that it is time for me to find another hotel chain for my business trips. Again, do not stay here. You have been warned!!!
