No value for the price
Beds uncomfortable. The continential breakfast was not available at 7am, when we needed it and not even at 8am. Fireplace is awesome, nice feature but the room was not worth 200.00 per night. Always call before arriving to make sure they have what you booked! They gave us two doubles when we paid for two queens. We ended up with a king and a double which the kids weren't happy about.

Great getaway spot
My boyfriend and I went here to help fix our relationship. we got a little lost but then found it. It is in a great location. Walking distance to downtown. We were looking for a placs to get sure good drinks we went to mucky ducks, wasnt too good. So we went back to our room and turned on the fireplace and cuddled up with a movie. The bed was big and comfy. Our heater didnt work very well so I was a little cold all night. I would turn the fireplace on but it had a timer so I coukdnt leave it.on all night.

Let's face it.. if you want a mint on your pillow... This isn't the place! BUT.. if you want a clean place to lay your head at an affordable price? This is it! It's not as modern as some hotels, but they are working on it. The management staff is top notch and remembers what "Service Industry" means. Don't hesitate to stay here if you just want a relax and enjoy sleep a bit away from water. They can make great local suggestions on food and "to do"s. It's a little off the beaten path, not on Cannery Row, but save a few pennies on your room so you can spend it elsewhere! Don't expect the Taj Mahal... but you'll enjoy the stay!

Choose Another Hotel
The Vagabond Inn aka Munras Lodge is a worn motel well past its prime. Munras Ave has quite a few hotels, but none were available for the weekend we needed in our price range except this one. For families on a budget, I would suggest trying outlying areas and driving the few minutes into Monterey. The rooms were adequate in size, but very very worn. The paint is peeling. The decor is at least 20 years old. The beds were old and lumpy. And there was NO air conditioning. Just an oscillating plug in style fan. To make matters worse, we had a horrible group of people staying next door who were loud, banging on the walls and swearing at the top of their lungs. The few bright spots were the free wifi and the proximity to the Wharf and Cannery Row. It's just a quick 5 minute drive to either location. And the staff at check in were polite and friendly. Overall, not at all a good value.

Avoid eating at the Wharf or Cannery Row! We found a great Indian restaurant near the Wharf called Indian Summer. Fabulous outdoor patio and terrific food. The Tandoori Platter was terrific.

Nice motel with big rooms and a nice feature of a real-fire effect in the room. Too far to walk downtown or to fishermans walk but only a short drive away.

Wonderful! Awesome!
We all went to Hearst Castle, Cannery Row & Fisherman's Wharf & winerys the next day. We as a couple first trip together was wonderful. Then we had my best friends of 25yrs and their 9yr old daughter make a reservation to join us. It all worked out smoothly for their stay and we all were able to vacation together:) thanks so much!

Very unfriendly staff, limited parking.
The hotel operator is extremely rude. The parking is horrible, very limited and the location is very bad, on a busy street. The rooms are subpar. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. I would recommend that ORBITZ.COM take this hotel off the list.

Vagabond Inn
i was a bit apprehensive to stay in such an inexpensive hotel but to my great surprise the Vagabond exceeded my expectations. our room was a good size, comfy bed, fireplace, and though it was a bit dated, it was very clean and well maintained. i will be staying there again for sure, what a bargain!

Vagabond in Monterey
My sister and I stayed at the Vagabond one night for a quick beach trip. I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised - the beds were comfortable, room and bathroom was large, and there was a microwave and refrigerator in the room to store our ice chest stuff. Vagabond also offered a Continental breakfast. There wasn't any fruit that morning, but there were 2 choices for cereal, plastic covered pastry and bread choices along with the coffee and juices. I had plenty to eat with just cereal and toast. This added to the values of the motel by allowing me to avoid a breakfast cost. I would stay there again.
