Lovely place, beuatiful setting, but horrible wine, coffee, and SALES CALL TO YOUR ROOM!!
Upon arriving at this place, the grounds exceeded my expectations! I checked in at night, went to the room which smelled of new, clean carpet, then went to Knuckles sports bar (that was the only place open). It was happening !! I ordered some wine thinking we would get some nice stuff considering our location. I asked the friendly bartender which Pinot Noir was open. He told me there were 4 of which I opted for the most expensive one - McIntyre Vineyards. When I asked him where it was from he simply said California - (knowing which county would have been helpful). That was warning sign #1. When he poured the glass, it was as dark as a Syrah - warning sign #2. This turned out to be one of the worst wines I have had in 2 years! I do go to many wine tastings and am a Pinot connoisseur specifically. I've had $12 bottles of Pinot that are far superior to this wretched liquid I was drinking. In the morning, we went to breakfast. I'm not sure if it was complimentary or not. If it wasn't, it was WAY too expensive for the quality. Omelet was good. We ordered coffee and it was surprisingly awful! It tasted like convenience store coffee left over from the night before that had been warmed up. The rest of breakfast was good but nothing spectacular. The check came and it was in the $50-$60 range which is ridiculous for 2 people. I had an omelet, coffee, OJ, and some fruit. My friend had something similar. Again, I'm not sure if it was complimentary. If it is, ok then, get better coffee, if it's not, it is horribly overpriced! After eating, I decided to maximize my morning and go for a quick trip to the hot tub/pool. What a great idea! The pool and hot tub was at a perfect temp. I relaxed and enjoyed myself there and returned to the room. We were about an hour from checkout and the phone rings. The friendly voice asked me if I had had breakfast or lunch already. Yes, I said, and I'm glad you called, I told him, because I am a little confused about the breakfast, whether or not it's complimentary. He tells me that I beat him to the punch or something like that, then proceeds to tell me about another Hyatt property in Big Sur at a low rate because you have to sit through a sales presentation. I listened politely while shaking my head the whole time. I have never before had a sales call to my room!! Simply unbelievable!!! This was such a low move IMO. Email me an offer, don't call my room, asking me to sit through a sales presentation, and never answering my question in the first place. Ridiculous! My overall opinion was still intact, It's a great place at a great rate, just don't drink the coffee, the wine, or answer the phone!!!

Dog friendly Hotel
We were offered an alternative room (same type) for a credit which we accepted. But the room was older with some pretty grim furniture. The outside area next to the patio door had weeds growing in it. There was NO turndown, NO robes in the rooms and very basic toiltries. Upon inquiring we were told that we hadn't requested it. WHAT? if it's in the information of course we EXPECT it. Where does one draw the line? We paid extra for the rengency club, although that was ON TOP of the mandatory $16 Spa fee. But we got a continental breakfast and some snacks and a glass of wine which we though was worth the money. We chose the Hotel because they accept Dogs, we were there for the Wieners on the beach event.
