Ok for 1 night stay

We got a very good price for last minute booking. Also, pre-paying $20 for the breakfast was definitely a good idea. Other that that, nothing special. Room was ok (definitely not 4-star), location was not so good (again, ok for 1 night stay)

Don't be fooled by the initial price

The Hyatt nickels and dimes you. There is a "resort fee" and a high daily "parking fee" Anything in the "resort" that you want to do is extra despite paying the "resort fee". The hotel is old and there is a new wing and an old wing. The difference in the rooms is significant. The lobby is old and the "resort" needs a major uplifting. It lies on the opposite sie of the freeway from Monterrey and a good distance from Monterey and Carmel I would rate it 3 stars max.

Beautiful, only if you are here to golf

For being Monterey, it's not near the ocean, it was a good thing we brought our bikes. It seemed like most people came to golf on the course right behind the Hyatt. We sat and had drinks by the course, it was pretty, but they seemed to be having staff issues, things took a while, then came out warm not hot and we ordered a bottle of bubbly but had to ask for a chiller when they brought it out. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice, but he didn't save anything. We gave him our Hyatt Rewards info, but then were charged full price resort fees even though we were told at check in it wouldn't be. We then received a phone call after 9:30pm because he hadn't saved the credit card and our server couldn't close out for the night (we were staying for 2 more nights for them to collect this information, let alone that we are rewards members and they should be able to charge to our Hyatt card from that.) When we stopped at check out to ask about the resort charges not being discounted, this new helper reversed all the charges and blew off our complaint like it was the norm to just write that off cause they always got complaints. We could also hear the guy in the next room snoring, which then made us wonder what they could hear happening in our room... YIKES.

Almost 4 Star

While my experience at the Hyatt Regency was excellent I wouldn't go so far as dub it a 4 star experience. My guest and I, for instance, were in the hot tub on premises and were ushered out rudely by a less than professional security woman. While I appreciate that the hotel has to close the pool at night their representative could have been far more friendly about informing us and other people that it was time to exit the area. Other than that and a few cosmetic issues with our room it was a very pleasant stay and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Monterey but I'd stop short of agreeing that it is a 4 star hotel, it's much closer to 3.5.

Welcome break

We stayed in Monterey en route from Yosemite at the start of a road trip down Big Sur. The Hyatt Regency provided a welcome return to civilisation after the mountains. We ate in all the restaurants and all were excellent. Fully recommended and wish we could have stayed longer!

Last trip before our baby is born in September

First time staying at the Hyatt. We stayed two nights and with all the amenities, we really didn't need to leave the grounds. The breakfast buffet one morning included a croissant bread pudding with rasberries. Oh so good. The staff both checking in and leaving were very pleasant. Our room was very roomy and the bed comfortable. We will definintely book here again.

Terrible customer service

Stayed in a room next to the ballroom. There was a military ball that lasted until 12:30 am. The doors to the ballroom patio were left open and it sounded like a club outside. People were making noise outside and there was no hotel staff regulating this event. Music was playing extremely loud. Hotel has a sign stating that quiet hours were 9 pm to 9 am, yet the music was playing until 12:30 am. Called the manager to ask them to regulate the event around 11 pm. Was told that it would be taken care of. Yet no attempt to limit the noise was made until the event was over. Also, parking was full and no attempt was made to give or guide hotel guests to find a spot. Took us over 30 minutes to find a parking stall that was on the other side of the property. Called the front desk to recommend that they help other guests find parking. The lady at the front desk answered with "you need to realize that we are having a military ball." In case I didn't notice the military people screaming and being loud until after midnight. Did not appreciate the front dest telling me what I should realize. Especially since we were paying $180 dollars a night. Did not receive one apology for the noise or terrible attempt to accommodate guests for parking. Staff only makes excuses and does not take responsibility for booking an event that is loud and lasted 3 hours past the quiet hours. Staff needs to realize that hotel guests should be a priority.
