Right off the freeway, as small as the room we had in Mission Bay, but cleaner, more comfortable, and MUCH nicer!!

Excellent value, clean and spacious
Excellent value, clean and spacious rooms. Breakfast area is a bit small but that is only a small issue. I would reccomend to anyone.

Large Rooms
Rooms are large and four 3/4 people there is a new basin and bathroom fitout which is impressive. Some linen appeared 'yellowed' which was concerning but apart from that the sheets appeared clean. This is a great price and though away from the Monterey epicentre, its fine if you have a car as parking is available - park early though.

priced right,but get the broken things fixed
room was comfy and very quiet. pool had cracked plaster in bottom and overall area was VERY dirty.fixing the small things means i would go back. fridge was extremley unlevel and very moldy around edges, microwave had no turn-table,sink had no stopper and smelled really bad, slow drain in sink and bathtub, shower lever was broken.otherwise room was very clean. despite all these things, i would stay here again.

Convenient short drive to Cannery Row
The first night was bad and we missed a lot of sleep due to drunken visitors in the rooms above us, and the manager said he tried but failed to keep them under control. Next two night were quiet and peaceful and saved the stay as far as we were concerned. other wise, a very basic hotel, but a good base for Monterey peninsula activities.

This palce is in a row of Motels on N. Fremont St., so it would pay to check the price on all of to get a cheaper price.

Perfect Accommodations
The office personal checked me in, issued my room key and since I arrived a bit early, it was suggested by the nice lady in the office that I can either visit the Aquarium, Fisherman's wharf ,or Just hang around until the room was available (they were being cleaned when I arrived)... The aquarium, the Wharf, and local museums were in close proximity to the motel so I was able to sight see, shop, eat, visit the local banks, post office...... It was truly a pleasant experience.... I would HIGHLY recommend El Castell to anyone.

The Motel offers room service by Dominos Pizza... however the Dominos locations is just down the street..... Its just better to drive there =)

Fun Grandparents
Fun family getaway to Monterey
The kids enjoyed the pool. The beds were comfortable. A fairly short drive to the main attractions of Monterey. The breakfast area gets a little crowded when everyone is making waffles. Rooms included a microwave and a fridge.

Good room, good price
I routinely stay here on weekends, and the room is always clean and comfortable. I've stayed in several hotels nearby, and this is the best I've found yet in the area. They're currently undergoing renovations to the pool house and such, but the workers are quiet and courteous. It's also right next door to a nice club, close to several good restaurants, and the bus downtown has a stop right across the street that comes past about every half hour, all day long. Very convenient location.
