super cheap, but noisy and not comfortable

Paid 36 dollars for a thursday night. Amazing price, given the location, but had trouble sleeping. The Good: Rooms here are clean, and remodeled very nicely. Many include a gas fireplace, and nice marble, minifridge, and microwave. The Bad: Beds are like rock. I did not know an actual mattress could be harder than floor with a blanket. Very surprising, considering how nice the rest of decor etc. The Ugly: This was second time staying here, different room. Both (And now I think perhaps all) rooms in this hotel might suffer from a terrible problem, which is unsecured plumbing in the walls. Anytime you run any water, flush toilet, or run showed, the pipes in the walls make a horrible banging, clanging, pounding sound. Vice versa, anyone using water in a room next to you, you hear the pounding, banging sounds. There is NO WAY you would sleep through this, so if neighbor (either side or above or below) wakes up before you, you are up too. summary: amazingly cheap, very clean, and convenient location, but beware, you will not get great sleep, and probably get woken up early. Earplugs even would not help the physical clanging inbetween the walls.

Good location

I loved the location and the price. Sadly, there wasn't much more to say. The rook was noisy and the plumbing made clunking noises when people in other rooms used it.

unbeatable service for the price

I am working out of town and have to spend the week away from my family. I shared the room with another co-worker. The room was very clean and large. We even had a coffee maker, microwave and refridgerator. [...]

no good

Q: "hi, there were no shampoos or conditioners in my room, can i get one?" A: "Sorry, we don't carry shampoos."I arrived pretty late at night. He wouldn't come to his office. The night manager was in his PJs, sleeping in the room next door. He slid a paper for me to sign. and the slid the keys for me. what a jerk.I honestly felt like I was in some cheap [*] house. Room color and design. Oh, NO HOT WATER!

Try a different motel

I travel to the Monterey Peninsula often on business. There are maybe 15 or so motels in a row on Munras Ave. This is the worst of the many at which I have stayed – shabby, noisy, definitely in need of a facelift. The internet connection is wireless but very slow.

Very quaint and pleasant place to stay

This place is on Munras Avenue, just off Hwy 1. For me, I was on business and this was a plus. Munras has a lot of hotels to choose from. Most are of this ones caliber. They are small, locally owned and all have a tidy and cozy appearance. None have an ocean view or fancy amenities. The Del Monte Mall is across the street for shopping and there is a park also. Down to the water would require a short drive or long walk (and it is a nice walk through historic Monterey). You can't go wrong with any of these Munras Avenue hotels and I've stayed at a few. This one had upgraded to granite tile bathrooms and fireplace.
