Staff was rude

The staff there was very rude. The service was terrible. They said they provided continental breakfast. What happened was they put some muffins and a bottle of juice in the check-in room. There was no space for you to stay and eat, no chair, no sofa, nothing, i figured they actually wanted to discourage you from taking the food. The paper cup they offered was one quarter of the size of a normal cup, when I was pouring a second cup, the guy behind the counter was staring at me! They didn't provide any shampoo so I had to buy one from the drugstore myself! The room was small, furniture was old, but that was what I expected for the price. However, the way they treated you was unexpectedly rude!! I wouldn't stay there for my next visit.

Try a different motel

I travel to the Monterey Peninsula often on business. There are maybe 15 or so motels in a row on Munras Ave. This is the worst of the many at which I have stayed – shabby, noisy, definitely in need of a facelift. The internet connection is wireless but very slow.

no good

Q: "hi, there were no shampoos or conditioners in my room, can i get one?" A: "Sorry, we don't carry shampoos."I arrived pretty late at night. He wouldn't come to his office. The night manager was in his PJs, sleeping in the room next door. He slid a paper for me to sign. and the slid the keys for me. what a jerk.I honestly felt like I was in some cheap [*] house. Room color and design. Oh, NO HOT WATER!

You get What you pay for

Very unfriendly, poor experience. The room type I had reserved was not what I got. The shower curtain was filthy, moldy and reeked of urine. Room was not only unclean, more of a sanitation nightmare. I gently notified the management of a need for a new curtain, and was met with more inhospitable "service." Walls thin, resident manager and family nosy and rude, small property, very meager amenities, overall poor accomodations and service.

DISAPPOINTED

THE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST WAS LOUSY CONSISTED OF WATERED DOWN ORANGE JUICE, MUFFINS CUT IN FOURTHS.[...] THIS WAS A BAD EXPERIENCE FOR MY FAMILY AND MYSELF. I BELIEVE THEY ADVERTISED A POOL BUT I NEVER DID SEE ONE. THEIR COKE MACHINE WAS BROKE THEIR SO CALLED ICE DISPENSER WAS IN A PRIVATE FREEZER IN THE MAIDS LAUNDRY ROOM. THIS WAS THE WORST MOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN.

FAILED TO MEET EVEN LOW EXPECTATIONS

My wife and I stayed at Del Monte Pines in Monterey. We knew it wasn't a five star resort but this place was disappointing even to our low expectations for a place to crash after a night of fun. Upon entering it smelled of mildew and the door didn't close enough to seal out wind/outside noises (we pushed a chair against the door at night to keep it firmly closed). It looked fairly clean so all the sloppy paint touchups and chipped edges didn't bother us. The bath towels were the size of hand towels and the hand towels were the size of wash towels, and all felt rough and worn out. We could make do and just use several towels so it didn't matter that much. But the loud stream dripping from the tub faucet was too much. I tried to close the handle tighter yet the water flow continued. Even with the door closed we could hear it from our bed. I immediately went to the older couple at the registration desk and told them of the problem. He said sorry and maybe it was just left on by someone. I said I already tried to close it and it didn't work. I said I wanted another room. He said I booked online and therefore could not change. I asked if he had any vacant rooms. He said no but would call the maintenance man to come fix it "again". I then told him that would be fine since we would be out till late anyways and left back to the room. A few minutes later he knocked on our door. He could not get hold of the maintenance man and offered to switch us to another room. I asked if we could check it out first and he agreed. This other room also had a leaking tub faucet! I told him we would just keep our room because it had a fireplace. He apologized and left. I ended up wrapping/stuffing the faucet with many towels to silence the drip enough with the door closed. The feeling that I got as a customer was that the no one there cared enough to fix things or replace items in a timely manner in order to save money and hope that customers don't notice or complain too much. Pathetic.
