Days Inn Monterey Downtown

Location is great. Easy walk to downtown. Room itself was fine. Problem was people in rooms around us. Could hear every conversation as if they were sitting at the end of your bed. No phones in room so couldn't call office when neighbors were still talking at 1:00 AM. Not a restful night!

The only thing is bad is the heather at the day is not working, but everything is ok.o I forget no parking espace on the same building.

I have to admit that the location was great. We were there for the Big Sur half marathon, so good distance to race start. The issue was we were unable either day to take advantage of the breakfast. The sign stated seven am, but no, it was not open until seven thirty. Too late to enjoy before the race and we chose not to wait around until they opened before we left. I felt, as did my friend that it was by design. What motel does that? We have had others accomodate race customers.

Took a quick 1 day trip to monterey. This place was good enough for us to stay and sleep over. Good location and didnt feel unsafe. Could use more parking but wasnt bad. Decent continental breakfast and then we left. Wouldnt mind staying here again.

Tacky, old motel that's falling apart. The only positive is its five blocks from Fishermans Warf. The sink was crooked, bathroom work was horrible so things didn't line up. Instead of pulling down an old shower fixture they left it up and added one above it. The wallpaper in the room was falling off the walls, lampshade was dirty and had holes in it, and the floors were filthy. Walls are paper thin so you can hear your neighbors perfectly.

I was only here for a few hours to sleep and shower before checking out the Aquarium, the motel was what I was expecting. If you just want to sleep and then leave and aren't looking for anything special, this will do. I mainly stayed here for the value because after two nights of a decent hotel in San Francisco I (well, mainly my boyfriend) wasn't looking to spend a lot just to sleep.

It's an OK hotel/motel close to downtown Monterey. There are quite a few others in the same neighborhood, but this one is one of the closest if you want to walk to downtown restaurant or a bar. There is a newer (more expensive?) part that is a little bit nicer, but the older one across the street is not bad either. Overall, nothing extraordinary, but rather nice and quiet - perfectly adequate for a weekend's stay.

This place is ok if you are staying for one night only. It definitely needs to be upgraded. I would not recommend to woman travelers unless there are many of you or plan to drive everywhere. The front desk staff told me that it is 10 minutes walk to the Fisherman's Wharf, but it is actually 20 + minutes. I felt like it was overpriced overall.

The motel was in an area we had stayed before, but listed as 2 star instead of the 3 star we had used. The difference was astounding. The manager was civil but not overly polite. The maids were OK but overworked. The toilet paper dissolved in your hand, we had to use the kleenex instead. We did not sample the continental breakfast, unwilling to take a chance. Fortunately only a long block away was a small bakery with a wide selection. We asked for a ground floor with handicapped amenities but the only available room was up a very steep, dark staircase. We are in our late 80's and everything was difficult, to say the least. Never again at that facility!!!

The hotel was very clean and in a good location. The parking in the main part of the hotel was slim, but the extra parking across the street was not a hassle. The only bad parts of the stay were the very hard bed and the fact that the staff at the front desk did not seem to be there very often. I slept okay, but my husband had a very hard time sleeping because of the hard bed. When we got there, the front desk staff were nowhere to be found, and the morning we left, they were not there either, even though it was at least 8AM.
