more like a discount motel
Don t know why it has 3 stars. Would be ok for a 2 star motel, but not for a 3 star. Our room was tiny and dark. Our kids room was ultralarge, but not comfortable. It had only 1 bed cor 3 kids, but a second bed was hidden in a cuoboard. A litgle bit strange, everything. Breakfast was ok, the outerappearance with plants etc also.

Good location
This a decent place to stay in Monterey for short spell. Location is very convenient, short walk to shopping but also easy access to highway 1. They had a pool but we didn't try it. Breakfast was better than average but in smallish room. I would recommend if you are in town for business and/or on a budget

Nice spot to lay your head!
Although a little out of the way in Monterey, the room itself was very comfortable. Perfect for one person to use as a landing spot.

not too bad but definitely false advertising!!
short and sweet... first, the lobby is not what it looks like here and the staff was very unfriendly (this was in the evening) secondLY, there is NO private sauna but there is a heated pool and jacuzzi which weren't very clean but the water was warm in the big pool. thirdly, the room itself was ok. the bathroom was clean and the tv was huge. the room was humid...we tried everything to change that. the bed was really old and smelly but not dirty. this place should be 45 bucks. not 60.

wish i could have stayed longer
We basically just slept here, it was a pleasant experience. I love that they had more than 3 channels on tv unlike some cheap hotels. Didn't use the pool but I will next time. I will certainly be back.

Fishermans wharf was a good place for dinning! Clam chowder is amazing @ old fishermans grotto.

Clarion Hotel MOnteray
Place looked like a converted economy studio apartment housing. Room was clean, everything worked. Would pass for a $60 room most anywhere else except Monteray. Breakfast area was well staffed. Poor girls worked like crazy keeping up. Kudos to them.
