  • Estéban restaurant and lounge serves breakfast and a tapas-style dinner menu daily
  • Sano Spa offers massage and body treatments and an outdoor spa garden
  • Complimentary self parking

Could have been better.

Casa Munras is in a very good location. If you walk to Fisherman's Wharf you have the opportunity to preview a wide range of dining options. Depending upon which room you are assigned, it has the potential for being a very nice experience, but in our case, it wasn't. First, we were given a "cozy queen" bed, which for the general population translates to full-size (think small). Our particular room was under a wooden staircase, so we got to hear everyone coming and going all hours of the night and day. Our TV remote control did not work. Lastly, the hotel staff assigned an entire construction crew to the rooms surrounding ours, so we were awakened and re-awakened at close range by diesel engines every morning at 0500, 0600 and 0700. Could have been a very positive experience, but ours wasn't. We were exhausted by the time we left.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

If you are comfortable walking, you will not need a car to get to many restaurants and Fisherman's Wharf. If your party includes elderly or small children, consider carefully, because it will get to be daunting after the 3rd or 4th time.

Absolutely perfect.

Being greeted the way we were upon check-in really set the tone for our stay. Jessica was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and helpful. The location is perfect for what we needed and wanted. I will definitely come back when in Monterey.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

A nice farmers market is held on Sunday morning at the Del Monte Shopping Center, near Whole Foods during the summer months. A much larger farmers market is held on Lighthouse Ave. in Pacific Grove at 4 p.m. Mondays.

Nice hotel at an affordable rate

The front desk was very helpful. They are helpful with what to do on your stay in Monterey, as well as with movie suggestions. The rooms are nice, except the water pressure in the shower was horrible and the mattress left me with a sore back.

Family time

Lovely hotel with nice special extras in the lobby. Had the opportunity to stay in the old original building and the newer built section. Definitely the latter is better. My sister in law asked to have us moved for the last 2 nights and we were nicely and graciously accommodated. Staff are wonderful. Tapas also fantastic - what a wonderful surprise to have onsite great food. Location perfect and :LOVED having access to bikes so readily available. Movie availability in the lobby even more of a bonus plus for the cool day we spent by our fireplace. Otherwise, sitting in the patio with heat lamps and by the pit a great option as well. The air had a chill in it but the warm pool was still swimmable. Loved, loved, loved our time in Monterey.

Great Place for a Little Break

Front desk staff, Jessica, was awesome. She was very helpful and cheery. She made reservations for us at a restaurant because we didn't know the area well. The room was very cute and cozy. We had a deluxe king room with a fireplace. The fireplace needed a little cleaning up, the old t.v. wasn't angled to be able to watch from bed, and the tiles in the bath were a little outdated, but everything else was great. The bed was nice and fluffy, way better sheets than my own, and the vanity is a great place to get ready. Overall I think the hotel was worth what we paid.

The fisherman's warf and cannery row are a short distance from the hotel. It takes about 20 mins to walk to the warf plus you get to walk by cute shops and enjoy the scenery.

Great Place to Stay

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. This is our 4th stay here. The facilities are great. The staff is friendly and the rooms are very clean. We had a deluxe king room with a fireplace. Very nice on cold winter nights. The location is great for visiting any attraction in Monterey and is just a few minutes from Carmel. We highly recommend this hotel.
