Clean, nice staff, great value

We stayed here on December 2012. The value and staff was really great! Although there are not located in the center of the town, but it does not matter at all. It's still close to the town and everything. I will definitely use this again.

We stayed only one night but the hotel was clean and reasonably priced. Walls are a little thin, and the pool is really small. It's a nice walk to downtown Monterey (wharf etc.).

Could have been better

You dont get the room in the picture! You have to pay an extra $33 to get that one.The Carpet was DISGUSTING!! I never took off my shoes, the sheets looked like they were from the 60's The only good part was restrooms. They looked newly renovated.

Unbeatable motel for the price

My wife, daughter and I were in town for a funeral so we were just looking for clean and quiet at a reasonable price. Our expectations were not high but we were pleasantly surprised. We were able to check in early, which one reviewer said was not permitted. Then again, December in Monterey is not peak season. The place was clean, quiet, pleasantly appointed and included muffins, apples juice and coffee in the morning. The owners were very polite and friendly and the only reason we didn't give it a 5 was there was no restaurant there. But we'd rather eat on Fisherman's Wharf anyway. Next time we're in town, we'll stay here instead of the pricier hotels we usually stay in, and we'll use the money we save on lodging - eating seafood at the many wonderful local restaurants instead.

Average in every way...

Went to Monterey for the weekend. Thought the reviews were good so we decided to stay here. The walls are thin, could hear babies crying in the next room. Overall, it was actually a little expensive for the room we got. Monterey has better choices that this.

Great location for Fisherman's Wharf

Convenient to Rt. 1, but difficult to find in the dark on way back from Fisherman's Wharf. Reasonable rates, clean, not luxurious. Free coffee, juice and packaged Danish for breakfast -- have to eat in room.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Take a nice walk down to the town pier and have breakfast at this quaint diner right on the pier. can't remember it's name, but it's right there. Go one pier over and see seals basking themselves.

Good value for the price

Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, offering dining tips and information about the area. Room was clean and comfortable and other than being able to hear the people above us walking around, it was nice and quiet. It's not right in the heart of Monterey though, so you'll have to drive into the downtown area to see any of the sights.
