good value

On Munras Ave, there is numerous inns. However, I thought this location and price is worth. Comfortable and safety stay in there.

America's Bes Value

Was a good place to stay especially for a last minute decision. Was priced reasonably compared to the others around which offer the same quality. Would probably stay here again.

Great Price for Great Stay

Came for the weekend to see my best friend. Got there at 5 a.m. and checkin's at 3 p.m. but he checked me in anyway with a tired smile and well wishes. Room was clean and perfect. Great beds, nice back porches, personal heaters, tv, microwave, etc. Granted walls don't keep all noise out but it's not like the noise keeps you up any. More like white noise. I had to leave at 2 a.m. when I was done and checkout's at 11 a.m. Still that tired smile and well wishes. Staff was so polite! Maids were eager to clean one morning and accidentally walked in on me haha. Just make sure you speak up when you tell them yes or no. There is free internet but you have to ask for the password for your room from the front counter. Only complaint was a small breakfast but this place is surrounded by entertainment and places to eat and shop (all within walking distance) and hardly anyone uses this hotel anyway so they probably don't get enough funding for big breakfasts. It's nice and quiet there. Pretty sure I was one of like 5 guests for the whole weekend. Definitely coming back next year.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Not far at all, but some people might think it's a long walk. Going uphill, the DMC (Del Monte Center) is a HUGE outdoor mall with everything you need and it's under 1/2 a mile from the hotel. In the opposite direction, there are tons of shops and cafes and restaurants downtown which starts maybe 1/4 mile from the hotel.

Best Vacation Stay Ever

Was in Monterey for the whole weekend to visit my best pal. Got there at 5 a.m. and checkin's at 3 p.m.! The guy woke up with a tired smile and a friendly attitude. Made sure I got everything I needed. And when I left, at 1 a.m. (checkout's at 11 a.m.) he woke up with the same great attitude and friendliness and wished me well when I left. Staff is great, always eager to help. Just make sure you speak up when the housekeep comes haha. Room was clean w/big comfy bed, micro, fridge, tv, iron, and even coffee pot. Free internet too, just make sure you get the password for your room from front counter. Really cool deep pool and hot tub outside. Nice little patios behind rooms leading to it. Breakfast was kinda scant, but that's probably cause there's not a lot of visitors here so they can't use much of the budget for that. Which is kind of good, this place is really private. I think there were 10 other people here besides me and it was really peaceful. And besides, there are TONS of other great places to eat in either direction-all within walking distance.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Was a short walk for me, might be a bit longer for others but everyone's different. The DMC (Del Monte Center# is a huge outdoor mall less than 1/2 a mile uphill from the hotel. It's got awesome stores and places to eat #ie H&M, Banana Republic, Zumiez, Coldstone Creamery, etc) and even a theater. In the opposite direction, you get to town in about 1/8 a mile and there are immediately places to shop, eat, and catch a bus to go to the coastal shops and eateries if you don't feel like walking.

Nice Stay

The hotel is location is very good with a shopping Mall and many restuarants nearby. The room has a patio which was an added sttraction. The CA 1 and 17 mile drive Gate way is just a few minutes away. Everything was really good about the hotel except the Blanket which had some old stains.

You Get What You Pay For!

This "inn" is your basic Munras Avenue motel. The rooms are large and relatively clean. The towels were better than average and the continental breakfast was typical. We did have broken floor tiles in the bathroom that we reported to management. Don't expect to spend much time in the room if you like watching TV. They provide very few channels not even ABC or the Golf Channel in one of the golf oriented destinations in America. Any positive recommendation would be completely dependent on the price.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

The best sandwichs in the State of California are made in Monterey at Campanos. This is a local treasure frequented by the military and area residents. It should be on any list of must stops for lunch.

Poor quality in the room.

It was not up to the standards of other America's Best Family inns that we have stayed at. The toilet leaked in our first room and the lamp shade was missing, the TV had poor reception. All of the electrical plugs were loose and worn and would not keep the plugs in and were not grounded, we had a hard time getting our plugs to stay in the receptacles. It was advertised as a continental breakfast and all they had was rolls, toast juice, cereal and coffee. One morning we didn't even have milk for cereal. We have stayed at other America's Best and were very pleased, this is why we chose them again. This motel was run very poorly and needed a lot of up grading, especially on the electrical end. The second room we were offered was the same and even the TV antenna just hung from the wall box with no cover attached. The furnace thermostat did not work and the electrical plugs were worse than the first room. I could go on but I think that gets my point across.

Not Bad for Budget

Keep in mind it's a budget motel & I think you'll be pleased with what you get. There's some street noise during the day but the location is really convenient if you plan to be downtown or at the wharf much (as opposed to staying on Fremont across the freeway). For a cheap motel the room was plenty clean & comfortable, and it had some of those little extras that are often missing (shampoo, lotion, coffee maker, blow dryer, microwave & mini fridge). I didn't bring a suit, but the pool & hot tub looked really nice. The only downside (and if you aren't a smoker it won't matter) is that you can't smoke even outside the room door or in the parking lot - you have to go out to the street to smoke. The price was right, though, and it was perfectly fine for what I expect for that price.

Nightlife tip: Long walk from hotel

Alvarado street is really close by (which is where all the bars are), so you can use the money you save on the room toward a cab ride back to your room at the end of the night.
