BRAND NEW! The Line is a new hotel collaboration by The Sydell Group, Roy Choi, Sean Knibb, and The Houston Brothers that celebrates the cultural fabric of urban Los Angeles. Designed in 1964 by architects Daniel Mann Johnson + Mendenhall, the iconic building sits alongside Koreatown's famous pre-1940 brick colonial revival buildings in a neighborhood that's abuzz 24 hours a day thanks to Southern California's highest concentration of restaurants, bars, and round-the-clock businesses. Handily located in the Los Angeles basin between Beverly Hills (6 miles), Downtown (3 miles) and Hollywood (5 miles), it's perfectly positioned for exploring all the City's many attractions with the neighborhood's charms right at your doorstep. The Line's dining concepts, led by LA's own Chef Roy Choi, will celebrate Koreatown's distinctive character - and greater LA itself. Koreatown natives the Houston Brothers - the entrepreneurs behind La Descarga and Harvard and Stone - are in-house hosting an intimate cocktail bar and lounge. There's also an art boutique concept store packed with carefully curated retail and a well-stocked magazine newsstand. Its 383 guest rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over Wilshire Boulevard on one side and the Hollywood Hills on the other. Los-Angeles-based Sean Knibb, best known for his award-winning landscaping design and The A-Frame Restaurant, has designed the hotel's interiors. Each room is appointed with hand-selected, custom-designed furnishings from Knibb's studio and various objects' d'art. Please note: Pool and restaurants currently closed for renovation.

Cool hotel, but they still have some kinks to work out

Parking is $35/night, not mentioned when booking hotel. Note that parking in the lots near the hotel reset their rates overnight. So even if you stay ;ess than 12 hours, if it's overnight it could still cost you up to $30. Room service was expensive for the food I received, almost paid as much in fees as food. Location is in Koreatown, so it's pretty centrally located, but there's not a ton to do within walking distance. Wifi is mostly bad, connection dropped at least 2x per hour. Room is cramped, but nice looking and good amenities. I really like the floor to ceiling views from the room, and they have electronic vertical blinds that be be either sheer for light, or blackout for sleeping.

Amazing stay

We stay at a lot of "hip" hotels across the country and The Line has become my favorite. Cutting edge decor and a very cool staff make this place a pleasure to stay. Go for the Hollywood Hills view, you won't be sorry. The restaurants (and Chef Roy Choi) are off the charts.

Friendly staff, Nice atmosphere

The hotel has great views if you're above the 7th floor on the Hollywood Hills side. Valet parking only, at an extra cost. Would be nice if it were included in the room rate. The room was clean and well designed. A small room with floor to ceiling windows and comfortable beds. Night life around the hotel is vibrant and young. We booked the room when it was on sale and got a great value for the money. Wouldn't recommend for a family with kids, although it was fine with our 7yo daughter.

We love staying at The Line

The Line is great- aesthetically pleasing, fun area, fun food, convenient to Downtown where I work. The one downside to staying there (I have stayed twice in the last couple of months) is that the wifi is awful. There is NO connection in the rooms it seems- which makes it really hard for someone staying there for work...the lobby is just too loud and social (which is nice and it should be!) to have to go down there to hold meetings/ work. I hope they sort this out really soon- because I want to be able to keep staying there. It is a great hotel for kids- the pool is lovely and I was able to get lots of work done while my little one was swimming and having a blast.

The absolute best hotel in LA!!

This hotel is AWESOME! The location was amazing. The staff was more than accommodating. The room was colorful and hi-tech and filled with unique 3D art. I won't stay anywhere else when I come to LA. 10 minutes from downtown Hollywood. No traffic. There's really not enough good things to say about this place.

Funky cool rooms!

I chose this hotel for our family vacation to LA because it was new and I loved the look of the rooms. The staff was super nice and very helpful. Rich, the manager was very friendly and offered his help if we needed it. The rooms were really cool. Loved the Hollywood Hills view. The shades automatically go up and down, the decor is modern and has USB hookups on the desk as well as a pop up electrical outlet. The downside is that the room is quite small for four people. The bathroom had zero towel racks which I didn't like cause you have to drape your towels over a chair or wherever. The shower curtain rod is so close to the ceiling you can't drape a towel over that either. There is a small "closet" but no drawer space so we lived out of our suitcases all week. And the card key didn't always work very well - had to insert it several times to get it to work. WiFi wasn't too bad - sometimes didn't get internet connection but for the most part it was fine. Our room was not ready at 3pm and after waiting 30 minutes the staff was kind enough to comp us drinks and food from the cafe' for the inconvenience. The valet staff was friendly and we never had to wait more than a few minutes for our car. So, all in all I loved the hotel (the beds were comfortable) and the staff. Not so happy with the small space but we're easy going so living out of our suitcases was fine and we managed to handle four people to one bathroom. I would stay here again.

Rich, one of the managers (or owner - not sure) suggested going to the Farmer's Market. We took his advice and loved it! There are many different places to eat with gift shops, etc. The drive was short and people watching is fun too. Highly recommend going there.

Modern Chic Mini Vacation

Fabulous experience. Everyone was very nice and helpful. We especially want to thank Rich Ryan who was a wealth of knowledge and made us feel like we were friends of his instead of just another guest at the hotel. The hotel is centrally located to so many things. Close to museums, shopping, downtown, Hollywood, and concert venues. The new subway was across the street. We were able to walk to restaurants. We felt very safe. Love being in an affordable hotel that felt so chic. No coffee in the room, but great pastry / coffee shop downstairs.
