Business Trip

Clearly the hotel is undergoing renovation, the room was bare, the bed had no frame, no bed skirt, the headboard was also missing. The hotel is no where near the current 4 star rating.

1 day trip to LA

The Tv had no picture, the coffee maker had no top to the water boiling part, the phone wasn't working, had to call front desk with my cell phone. They did send someone over to fix the TV and eventually the phone started working again once I got the front desk to call the room... Only spent one night there though so it wasn't too annoying.

Night before flight

Booked this hotel because of early flight from LAX. Location is perfect. Reception by valet was very friendly and flexible (they allowed me to park my rented car for 15 minutes at no cost so I could check in before driving my car back to the rental company). Dinner in the hotel bar was quite good (had a pizza). Room was tidy but no light in the bathroom and coffee machine was not working (which is bad if you have to leave at 4.30 am). So the maintenance team could do a better job. Overall OK for price/quality.

You get what you pay for

Low cost, right by the airport, and restaurant and front desk staff were GREAT. The hotel is a bit old and I had a banging sound keeping me up all night. I was comped my breakfast and assured the hotel is being renovated and all banging sounds will disappear.

Worn out facility

I booked this hotel when I saw it was a Hyatt close to the airport. Hyatt should be embarrassed to have their name associated with it. The hotel is older and is in the process of transitioning to become a Hyatt Regency, but it has major work to do. While the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient (to a point), the building itself and amenities were sub par. First thing we noticed was the carpet in the hallways looked extremely "high mileage"--not dirty, just dated and worn to the point it looked shabby. The room we were given looked as if it had been thrown together at the last minute. The bed (very comfortable and newish), was on one side of the room. the other side of the room looked as if it had had another bed, or piece of furniture in it, that had been removed. You could see carpet indentations on the floor. The bed was on its support platform with no skirting. Nor was there a bedspread. Linens were clean and pillows were good, but nothing looked "finished" or to standards expected of a Hyatt. There were two nigh stands but only one lamp, and with limited other room lighting made the room very dark. We requested another lamp from the front desk which was promised but never arrived. The desk clerk asked if we wanted another room, which we should have accepted, but at that point we hadn't noticed the other deficiencies so declined. Later we discovered the bathtub. While clean, the enamel in a large area of the tub was completely worn away. It reminded me of the worn out carpet in the halls. I will give the cleaning staff credit for doing the best they could with what they had, for everything was clean, though the grout in the tiles showed signs of mold that would require regrouting to fix. We also noticed the air conditioning vents looked like they had never been cleaned and were dusty and moldy. So much for the room. Amenities: I went to the ice machine on our floor to discover "Temporarily Out of Order" signs on it. So went up a floor to discover the same thing. Went down two floors before finding a working machine which looked decades more recent than the other two non functioning ones. Know that if you book this hotel there are no nearby dining facilities except the hotel's or those of other nearby hotels. The hotel has two dining options, a restaurant, Palmira, and the lobby bar. They have separate menus. Prices for the Palmira are exorbitant for the quality and dining options are limited and difficult for persons with special dietary needs. Dinner tends to be very heavy and the quality only fair. Bar options seemed much more reasonable and varied, but not much in the way of lighter fare. Parking is also exorbitant. 15 minutes free to check in, then $11.00 for the first hour. My most positive observation of the hotel was the staff. Everyone was polite, helpful, gracious, out to make the stay enjoyable (except for the inefficiency in getting our second nightstand lamp). The further down the chain of command you went, the friendlier and more helpful the staff were. Waiters, the person running the coffee bar, and the shuttle drivers were great. And, the shuttle service to the airport is fast and frequent. Overall, this was an OK place to spend one night before an early morning flight. But it was not what I expected when I saw Hyatt's name attached to it. If I had to do over again, I would not have stayed there, a paid a little more for some more comfort and dining options.
