A driver's worst nightmare.
This hotel has one thing going for it: location. Unfortunately, that is also its biggest problem. With the freeway just a few hundred yards north, the traffic coming down Highland is relentless. Trying to turn left into the hotel is a true test of patience. Drivers can expect to wait upwards of 5-10 minutes with their blinker on if you aren't lucky. Once you are at the hotel, valet parking is required. Pretty standard, but with only ONE valet attendant on duty, expect to wait and wait and wait to get your car out. When leaving the hotel, forget about turning left and getting to the freeway. It will NEVER happen. You must wait patiently just to turn right out of the exit. The hotel itself isn't too bad, except for their exercise facilites. That consists of 2 treadmills and 2 stairclimbers in a tiny room and that is it. No lifting machines, no weights, no nothing. Pool area was decent, but I didn't use it. Complimentary breakfast buffet was slightly above average. The food was standard buffet fare, but it was always piping hot. The rooms were very spacious suites, but dark. The light switch only controlled one small light and the remaining 5 or six scattered lamps had to be turned on one at a time by hand. The hotel staff did a great job (with the exception of the overworked valet) and it wasn't a bad stay, I'd just never return. I'd rather pay a little more to stay somewhere with better amenities and easier parking. (Or pay a little less and stay somewhere out of the way with less traffic.)

Short drive from hotel
Everything fun to do is nearby on either Santa Monica (West Hollywood) or Melrose. Skip the touristy stuff like looking at stars on the sidewalk.

Our room was clean and quite. The breakfast was fantastic, with many choices of both hot and cold food. The location was perfect, easy walking distance to all of the attractions on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Friendly and attentive staff. It could have only been better if the pool had been heated.

BIG LAR
Hollywood Bound
I'll just bullet the items 1. Good location 2. $22.00 per day parking - no break for hotel guests. Bad. 3. hit and miss on hot water 4. Poor pool location 5. Breakfast buffet counter not laid out well for busy activity - too congested 6. Could not adjust air-conditioning below 75 - was like a sauna in the room after showers. could not even run the "fan" option on the unit. TOO envoronmentally friendly. 7. TV choices poor - standard cable only - but could still see the On-demand menus. Need movie options. 8. Good hotel for short stay only.

Hollywood Holiday Inn Express
Good fitness center. Continental breakfast was good - pancakes were great and quick, cinnamon rolls were tasty and they had skim milk. Hotel was very clean and a good price for the area. Very close to Hollywood. You can hear the street noise on Highland pretty well if your room is on that side.

An excellent hotel!
Large rooms
An excellent hotel! Large rooms and very clean. Breakfast and internet included. Breakfast is basic, but more than adequate with bacon or sausage, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and an assortment of breads and pastries. Location is excellent. Ten minute walk to Hollywood Boulevard and its attractions. Ten minute walk to subway and buses to all parts of LA. Highly recommend.
