First LA getaway

I enjoyed my stay at the Custom Hotel. The rooms were nice, and the overall layout and design of the hotel was great. I like the customer service and the free WiFi. Im glad I was able to get a good deal on the room, because I ended up paying more in "hidden Charges". They don't have a parking lot so I had to pay to valet my car every day/night, which is $20 a day. The only other option was to cross my fingers and hope a parking spot on the street opened, but it never did. Then the breakfast they serve downstairs near the lobby was about $12 and only included a limited amount of food and you're only able to get water, tea, or coffee. If you want orange juice thats an extra charge of $4 a cup :-/ Deck 33 Restaurant out by the pool (which is smaller than my living room...the pool that is) has a very nice atmosphere and good drink specials. The customer service, however, could be a little better (had to wait almost 10 min before the waitress came to the table and greet us). The location of the hotel (next door to the airport, around the corner from the mall, and a short driving distance from the beach) made everything so convenient. With the exception of the "hidden charges" I would definitely go back.

Go for the massage chairs!

I've stayed at this hotel several times - even before the recent renovation/refresh that was completed by the Joie de Vivre hotel brand. Still a very cool place to stay, great location for business travelers as it is literally only 5 minutes away from the airport. Do yourself a favor and take a little walk around the various floors to visit all the unique lounges and hidden spots - my favorite was the relaxation room on the 12th floor with the world's best massage chair.

Instead of parking with the hotel valet at $20 a day, there is usually some open street parking near the bowling alley/Otis college just down the street - 3 minute walk to the hotel from there.

Okay, not great

The room was very dark, though it tried to be chic. There was no ice machine on the floor, and valet parking was $20/night. Overall, it was okay, but not great.

Great place and stay

As a fan of boutique hotels, I would definitely stay here again. I really liked their modernist clean lines and over all choice in design. The staff was perfect, the room was great for the price, parking is valet only but we chose street parking down the way. Close walking proximites to eateries, grocery and other things close by. Its very close to the airport but the strong paned windows kept the sound out--yay! They also have a restaurant on premises and lounge. I definitely would stay again.

Comfort Hotel

The Hotel was nice and close to access to the airport. It was clean and secure. But it's not for the business person. No place to set up my laptop and multiple charging items. The beds were on the floor. Parking was valet only and $20.00.

I would stay there again!!!

Great Amenties and service (Free Ariport Shuttle was great). Room was small, but bed was great. Close to an In N Out Burger (a must while in LA-double/double animal style-Fries-Shake for two with Cab ride each way-$25-can't beat it-Cab ride was $15). Chelsea was amazing (front desk)!

Finally ... not a chain hotel near the airport

We arrived at around 1am after dropping parents off at the airport. We were staying overnight to attend a show at the Palladium the next day, and just needed to get some sleep. With the exception of the hotel bar/restaurant being closed early ( it was a slow time at the hotel ), the valet parking being $20 instead of the quoted $15 ( they honored the $15 quoted price ) and our room keys not working for entry into the lounge rooms ( We didn't bother fixing because we just wanted to peak our heads in anyway ) everything else was perfect. I loved the rooms, very comfortable and well laid out. The decor and environment/vibe was exactly what I was looking for and the staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend Custom Hotel and will stay again if I find myself in need of an LA area hotel.

Young couples getaway

this hotel was nice. Has valet parking, but we just found street parking. We stayed at this hotel and went to santa Monica pier. Wasn't to long of a drive from this hotel. Upon arrival they didn't see us in the computer yet so we had to wait for them to contact orbitz. After about 15 mins they found us and upgraded our room for the inconvenience :) they have a nice pool and cabana area. We went to the bar that is onsite and overlooks the pool. They have a nice selection of beer and a great vibe all together. I would recomend this for a young couple.

Trendy and comfortable

I really liked the decor and vibe of the hotel. I paid a little more for the elevated queen but I don't really know what made it deluxe. The room was small but sufficient. The layout was a little weird since the bed was in the middle of the room but it was still cool. The view was ok but not "panoramic" as referred to in the description. I was also suppose to have access to a lounge with my upgraded room but for some reason my key didn't work. We didn't pursue it because we didn't really have time to utilize it anyways. There was a printer and computer in there which would be handy for printing out travel docs. Since we didn't go inside I am not sure if it cost anything. Our room was at the end of the hall and we could hear a lot of noise from a party going on at the other end of the hall. Luckily it didn't last all night. The free wi-fi was a nice gesture but it was super slow...My phone's 3G was faster. We had dinner at the Deck33 which was convenient. The drinks were expensive and the food was good but pretty pricey as well. The service was bad...the waitress' tip reflected that. The restaurant overlooked the pool (which was small) and cabanans. The cabanans looked like a nice place to lounge. They had fires and heaters everywhere so a night swim might have been nice. The location of the hotel was really good. It appeared to be an up in coming area with new shops and restaurants. It took less than 10 minutes to get to the airport. It took about 20 minutes to get to Santa Monica and it was a pretty easy ride. Getting to the Hollywood area took a while due to tons of traffic. Overall, I don't know what the regular rooms look like but I probably should have just saved my money and stayed with the regular room. For the price this near the airport hotel was worth it as long as you are aware that it is not a luxury hotel.

Drive out to Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade. It was a really fun mall with lots of shops and things going on. It only took about 20 minutes.
