Horrible staff, very dirty, and extremely noisy
The Queen Mary Hotel made me sick to my stomach. When I initially checked in, the lady at the front counter stated she did not know how the modem worked and stated no one was available to explain it to me. There is no wireless internet in the room (it is hooked up to this grey box). Oh, and I forgot to mention, they make you pay $15.00 a night to park and you have to walk a distance to even get to the front door. When I walked into the hotel room itself, I immediately noticed that the carpet was Extremely filty and there were stains everywhere. I also noticed dust on the counter tops, on the doors, and on the television. I walked into the bathroom and saw a used bar of soap and also the shampoo container was half empty (which had obvious signs that it was used by the previous hotel guest). The first night I immediately realized several things. You can definitely hear EVERYTHING and I do mean EVERYTHING in the other rooms, outside in the hallway, and also up above and below you. There was absolutely NO peace and quiet during my entire stay. Also on my first night, at 1140pm I heard a vacuum cleaner right above my room. I immediately contacted the front desk and asked to speak to the manager about the noise. The manager did not call me back until 1225am at which point I was very livid because the vacuuming was still going on. He stated he heard of my complaint (and during my conversation with him the vacuuming stopped, but it should be noted that I called at 1140 and it did not stop until 1225) and apologized and stated it will never happen again during your stay. He stated that they had a big party right above my room in the banquet hall and they had to clean up. I said will I didnt care if they had to clean up because I had to sleep. I told him I NEVER heard of a hotel vacuuming at midnight, and especially when it would wake everyone up. I also heard the cleaning staff rolling a cart around the floor which was very annoying. On day two, the air condition stopped working (well not exactly, but the room was not cold as the vents were blowing out cool but not cold air). As I mentioned, most of the vents were blowing out cool air (but not cold) with the exception of one which was blowing out hot air. The maintanance man then proceeded to walk over to the one vent and shut it off and said that will have to do. I told him even tho he shut it off, you could still feel some hot air coming out. I then called a manager and complained about it. I never got any good sleep as I would always hear the banquet people making noise til about 3am, including rolling that cart back and forth, and cleaning the banquet hall. As god is my witness, I will never ever stay at this hotel again. I made my first trip to California very miserable and it was a waste of 2 thousand dollars that I had to spend. Please do not waste your time or money here. It will definitely ruin your vacation.

Not up to snuff
Twin beds were placed foot to foot, the carpet was very thin and extremely dirty-looking with large stains throughout. Sounds came through easily from the next room. At round 5:30 Sunday morning, loud thumping noises could be heard from the lower region of the ship. Self parking is very limited with most of the lot set aside for valet parking--not good when the handicapped spots are in the valet parking area. Positive note--breakfast buffet on Labor Day ($12 or so) was good value.

The good, the bad, and the really ugly
The most unclean terrible hotel ever. Twin bed for 2 adults and 1 infant!! TOO small rooms doesn't worth the money. Nothing for the handicap or for the infant with the stroller.

Don't get taken
This boat is in bad shape. If meetings are going on you will be unable to see the ball rooms and suites. This is absolutely the worst location unless you are boarding the Catalina express or a cruise ship. Too many bucks, Too many yucks, No ROI on your vacation investment. I will never return.

Cruise that wasn't
The price was the same as that of an active cruise ship per day, but that is were the similarity stopped. We arrived at 4:00 PM, check-in time and all the tours were already taken. Even, the self-guided audio tour. There were only about 50 cars in the parking lot. This 1000 foot long ship had to have 100's of rooms, but they put a noisy group in the next room. There were so many empty rooms on the ship, it would have been very easy to have an empty room between everyone. On a real cruise ship there are lots of free activities, lots of things to do, lots of great service. This ship had nothing for free. The spy glass on deck required a quarter. Avoid the Queen Mary!

Queen Mary
The hotel had a lot of history and many interesting things to look at but as far as the hotel goes, very poor condition. The room was small which is to be expected for the type of hotel (old cruise ship) but the rooms were very run down. I understand the Queen Mary is a historic landmark which is nice but it may be time to invest in upgrades if they plan on keeping the hotel open...

Visiting to Long Beach
Never again
Unfortunately, I don't have anything positive to say about our stay at Queen Mary. Our check in clerk did not seem to want to or be able to provide any concierge type information. I found out too late that there was a self-guided tour of the ship we could have taken our grandchildren on. That would have made their visit more memorable. The room ventilation was not working properly and although maintenance did respond timely, their visit made no change to the hot and stuffy inner cabin. Another call to maintenance was necessary to get the toilet to flush (yuk), It did work one time. No sleep was to be had until the prom being held there was over. The very loud band music carried down to our room for hours. When these complaints were brought to the attention of the front desk, we got a little sympathy but nothing satisfying. We were told the ship had recently changed hands and it was a work in progress. Overall, the condition of our room, the ship and its facilities were very old, run down, and even seedy looking. I would not stay here again nor recommend it to anyone for a hotel stay.

Fire Alarm?
My boyfriend and I decided to stay here on our 2 year anniversary, and it was a mistake. At 1:00am, the fire alarm was going off through out the whole boat, and they couldn't shut it off. So by 3:00am, we checked out early and got our money back.
