christmas trip

I love the Queen Mary hotel. I always try to make a trip during different times of the year. They always have great things going on. The price to park should not be charged per day but should be only a one time fee for hotel guests. I think it is unfare to charge such a high price per day for some one who is already staying at the Hotel. I am sorry to see the stores that I have relied on for so many years to buy things for myself, my family and gifts are no longer going to be there. I will visit these stores where ever they have gone but am sad that I can no longer walk along the Promenade deck to shop them. I understand there will be other stores put in by the new company taking over the Queen Mary, but I understand the items will be of less quality and not the type of items I have become so happy with buying over these many years. One of the reasons I have come to the Queen Mary over the years is for the specific types of shops that were available. As to the restaurants and food, I am not happy with the prices in any of the restaurants and sad to see the Deli is gone. I had to borrow money in order to feed myself and my son whom I had brought there as a Christmas going away present as he was leaving for the Army. The prices were outrageous and no average family that stays on the ship can afford it. Even the Marketplace where I saw alot of people going to was crazy expensive. $9.00 for a sandwich that looked like it came from a hospital cafeteria. I was also sad to see the other food place by the Observation Bar was gone and replaced by a mock childs play room. I watched the Hotel Del Coronado raise their prices so no one but the rich could stay there or shop or even eat there and now I am watching the Queen Mary do the same. Is this how America is supposed to be? Cutting out the not so rich who deserve to enjoy the same things? I enjoyed my stay with my son but it would have been horrible if I had not been able to borrow money. No one should have to borrow money just to eat because all the restaurants are expensive. Also, the hotel did make the mistake of charging me again for the same night that I already paid for through a travel booking agency. It was later taking care of, but this should never have happened. I believe I should have been given a free night for this kind of mistake but I was not offered any thing except the reversal of the charge. Other wise I had a wonderful time and was glad to have been able to buy some gifts at my favorite shops before they closed. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The Observation Bar could do with offering a bit more appetizers. I will be back to see how things are going with the new company take over.

A worthwhile experience

This was a fun hotel to stay in for a night or two. You also get access to their audio tour, which can be a significant savings. So if you are going to tour the ship anyway, it really doesn't cost that much more just to stay the night on it.

Queen Mary Visitation

The stay was good overall, the lack of a small fridge and unable to control room temperature was a little inconvenience but the location of the Queen Mary to shops and restaurants in Long Beach was excellent.

Date Night With Wife

Great trip and night. Live 1 hour away and never stayed on the Queen Mary before. The rooms are small, but its a boat built in the early 1900's, so it was exactly what we thought it would be. Great food and romantic setting. I am in the Military and this was money well spent. Boat Tour makes the whole adventure. I plan on making a return visit. Loved the views from the deck of the boat reminded me of the Titanic Movie. Views of Long Beach at night.

Disappointing visit with thr Queem

I had occasion to need a room close to work, while my home was unavailable. I have lived in long beach for over 20 years but never visited this historic landmark until earlier this week. I was given a standard room (with wimdows to exterior). Room had a full size bed, flat screen tv, shower. Very small and simple. All i wanted/needed was a clean, quiet room to dleep after long work days. Room had a strong foot odor, matress was uncomfortable, there were fingrrprints on ceiling by electrical panel, bathroom sink stopped up, and i ran out of hot water on my last day there. Worse yet, the walls are thin so watch out who you next to or you could be unpleasantly surprised. Good recovery though by Asst Manager after i brought these issues to ber attention, she agreed to reverse chatges for parking and "facilities fee". Without any hassle. At least their customer service was 3 star.

A Real Treat On The Grande Old Lady!

My wife and I were booked for a cruise out of Long Beach and needed to overnight. We found this gem right next door to the cruise terminal and paid a very reasonable and low price for the room. We received a complementary upgrade to a room with a porthole and extra bed and it was really neat to see how passengers of old used to travel.

Room

The first night I was there it was horrible due to a room I had below the dance hall. There was a wedding and I was able to hear everything and I couldn't rest until midnight when it was over. I had a marathon the next morning so I was really upset of the noise. I complained and was moved the next day but it was too late.
