Ok but there is much better
I thought the hotel itself was pretty cool but its location is terrible. It's extremely hard to get to at least it we for us late at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful which was nice to come in too. However they do allow pets there and you can tell, we needed our room cleaned before we could stay. It's a nice hotel but I think for the price there are some better options.

Very disappointing!
I was very disappointed with the room quality! There wasn't even a vanity in the bathroom to put things on. It looked like they took and old, abandoned hotel and tried to fix it up, but did a horrible job! WAY over priced for what you get. I would NEVER stay there again!

Comfortable for business trip
Spacious room, clean, comfortable bed, and tasty modern restaurant with a water view. Staff members were professional, kind, and prompt. Exceeded my expectations for my business trip. Location wasn't super convenient to the convention center, but a free shuttle offered reliable, free, and safe transportation.

Beautiful
The hotel was gorgeous. Unfortunately, when we entered our hotel room we noticed that it had not been cleaned after the last guest. We called the front desk, and they quickly gave us a new room. We paid for waterview but the room they gave us had a view of the roof of the adjacent building. We requested the previous room be cleaned, so we could stay there instead. We were able to go back to the previous room, and we were very happy with it.

Local on a Staycation
major hiccup but wonderful otherwise
My husband and I were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary and couldn't afford the time to travel anywhere because of his work schedule. We took a "staycation" here--we live in Long Beach and chose to stay at this newer hotel because it looked beautiful in the pictures. We thought we reserved a room with our own private balcony because it said it had a "water view," which it did, but no balcony. :( It was our mistake. However, we may have had a better room because the ones we saw with balconies had lots of people outside with music, drinking and ours was nice and quiet. We stayed in building #4, which I think is the best because it is right next to the pool and has the fitness center rooms on the first floor. Our room was next to the pool but no windows by it so if the pool was ever crowded, (which it never was while we were there), it would not have been loud at all. Everything was immaculate including the bedding all being stark white and wonderfully soft. One major hiccup though. There was a condom on the floor next to our bed which we think someone may have thrown in to the room when we went out for dinner. We forgot to shut the door completely and never saw it when we first arrived. When we came back the door was ajar, nothing was missing, the room was spotless, but there was a single opened (though clearly not completely used) condom on the floor!! It was a bit horrifying, but the response of the staff was fast and the best it could have been given the situation. It was all really odd since it was not there when we arrived--we wondered if someone through it there to get the cleaning person in trouble or something. Anyway, it is something that could happen at any hotel and everything else there was wonderful, so we overlooked it. We had a wonderful time and relaxed in the whirlpool before bed, which is next to the pool. I will say though that the music playing by the pool made us feel like we were in a nightclub, and we are not that type of people. One last thing--upon arrival and check-in, we were each handed a large, warm, yummy chocolate chip cookie. That made the $15 per night parking seem like no big deal (we think that is their way of easing that blow). It was really yummy!

"Relaxing Eukanuba Getaway"
The Maya was very nice, the room was equipped with everything. iPod player, keurig coffee...wine glasses, robes, fabulous pillows and a beautiful water view! The only negative part of our stay is that we booked an extra night and the raised the rate! Besides that it is a great place to stay.

Nice surprise!
Great rooms and staff were incredible. Warm cookies at check=in and they were so accomadating to whatever you needed. Bell staff was excellent and gracious. Lots of weddings going on there probably because of the great service. Pool a bit small but not that big of a deal.

Good waterfront hotel
We enjoyed night sight around. It was easy to enter the room, but we did not feel danger. The room has up-dated electric devises, including iphone station.

Great Staff nice hotel
We stayed at the Hotel Maya for a week in October, the hotel is very nice and the staff is wonderful!!! They are helpful and friendly. There is a pool (which the weather was to cold so didn't use) that looked nice. The rooms are nice size but my complaints are 1) Bathroom is very small which is ok but there is no counter space to put down your makeup or anything when getting ready it's just a sink no counter and the mirror was small 2) The maid never vacuumed our room there was still the same pieces on the floor all the time. 3) It's right on the water and for the most part quiet with the exceptional very (very) loud door slam of a person entering or leaving their room. 4) The biggest problem I have with the hotel is the location; it is not conveniently located near any of the local attractions or restaurants. There is a free red bus that comes to the hotel to pick you up and take you across the bridge but it's really not as convenient as staying on the other side where you can walk to all the different locations. The schedule of the bus is a little weird we waited and waited at one bus pickup and no bus ever came so had to walk around to find a different pick up and coming back on it to the hotel is frustrating they say yes we will stop at the Maya Hotel but the driver takes a 15 min break (which they don't tell you when you get on) after it gets to the Queen Mary (the stop before the Maya) and you can wait on the bus or stand outside and wait or you can just walk to the hotel which will take you 10 to 15 min anyway so waiting doesn't make sense. All in all the Maya is a very nice hotel but we probably wouldn't stay again only because of the inconvenient location.
