My review of Pacific Edge Hotel, formerly Vacation Village
The location was horrible because it sat right on a busy street so you were almost guaranteed to get into an accident just pulling into the parking lot of the hotel. The room seemed to be updated as far as style, everything looked old and out of date. There wasn't even a tub. When the heater was utilize it made the room smell like something had been burning. The refrigerator was a nice touch and worked well. It would have been nice to have a microwave as well. The hotel did sit right on the beach which was very pleasant. The office staff was very accomodating and took really good care of us.

Overpriced Dump!
The only plus about this place was that it was right next door to The Beach House - an excellent restaurant! Both rooms had tv's that didn't work. The rooms are ugly and look like a $49 motel room when the actual cost was almost $300 per night!! Parking lot is difficult to get into - almost impossible with a big car!!

Over Rated and Over Priced
The motel is very old and only updates have been to the paint. Rooms are very small and beds are very hard. I was there for 5 nights and never had a good nights sleep. Backaches will happen!! The most disgusting thing is parking is not included, which is 12$ per night and tax of 1.44$ per night on it. TV's are very old and sliding balcony doors are original and don't slide. This motel should be at Motel 6 pricing!!! The only quality I liked was the proximity to the beach. We were on the west side of PCH. I would try Blue Luguna Hotel 1 block to south if I ever come back to California. Beautiful State..Horrible taxation.

The worst experience ever...
It as a nightmare, I wanted a nice place for a getaway with my family but definitely I chose the wrong place, I booked a two bedroom apartment in that place which is rally old and not clean at all, I went to the room and the greatest surprise was waiting for me there… there is no air-condition in on of the rooms when I asked the front desk she was very confidence telling me: "Just turn on the one unit in the living room and leave the door of that room open". I ended up sleeping on the floor me and my wife. That's not it… the hotel room or apartment doesn't have a microwave, the full size fridge was nasty, the beach was really dirty and when I asked for towels- which they said they provide upon request- I waited till I checked out and never got them. Did I mention that parking is not included in the price and you pay $20/night for it? It was the worst vacation we had ever had. Plus it was very pricy too to pay more than $270 PER NIGHT.

Avoid Pacific Edge
Pacific Edge's pictures on line do it more justice than it deserves. We rented to two bedroom and kitchen unit. They provide zero ammenities. We had to ask for extra towels, toilet paper, cups, creamers for coffee, etc. The lighting in the bathroom was bad. When we checked in asked if they had a DVD player and said "yes" but in fact the DVD players are "disengaged" so that people will rent movies through their service provider. All in all, with exception to it's location in downtown Laguna, not worth it's price.

cheating for promising a oceanview room
The description to to guarantee you a oceanview room, however, they don't admit that, they told me oceanview is part oceanview, you can see the ocean from other direction. That doesn't make sense to me.

Research room ahead of time!!
I had stayed at this hotel previously and I liked the fact that it was so close to the beach, restaurants and sights of the area. When I arrived at the hotel, I was told I could have an upgrade to an oceanfront suite with a kitchenette, jacuzzi tub and king size bed!! I got one of the worst rooms in the hotel, facing the street, very noisy, no counter top in the bathroom (I had to lay my toothbrush on the top of the toilet-gross!) Needless to say, if I ever stay at Vacation Village again, I will either pay more to get a decent room, or call right away and insist on my choice.

The good, the bad, and the really ugly
Laguna Beach and Hotel Property (outside) were all nice and exceeded expectations. However, the room badly needed to be remodeled and there were loud wedding until 11 or 12 PM on both nights we were at the hotel. Additionally, parking was very tough to get, although we paid abou $12/day for parking.

Does location trump shortfalls?
After pre-paying entire bill 2 months in advance, they requested credit card upon check-in for "incidentals and PARKING at $12+tax/day" NO WHERE in our Orbitz contract is extra parking cost mentioned!!!We had called to indicate late arrival. Hotel is a complicated clumping of rooms on the Beach. After dumping us at a room that was NOT the contracted kitchenette it took over an hour to get the correct room and then more time for an engineer to drill a safety lock on the sliding door so we could enjoy the breezes and sounds in SAFETY(are we the only ones to come up with this novel concept?

Getting what you pay for...
Small downstairs room off parking lot on street side with only one chair, furnishings that looked like they came from a thrift shop, only one outlet for electronic equipment (Laptop charger, phone charger, PDA charger, etc.), no table/shelf in bathroom for toiletries, and very poor shower pressure.
