Great Beach Front Hotel In The Center of Town

The staff bends over backwards for you at this small intimate hotel! The Reef Rooms have a great close-up view of the ocean! Near shopping and great restaurants. Shuttle to Pageant of the Masters, The Festival of the Arts and Saw Dust Festival. Great proximity to everything! Try it, you'll like it!

Good times at the beach

We (me, hubby, 4 yr old child) took a 3 day breather from the daily grind down to Laguna Beach and this was the perfect place to be. Ocean front, walking distance to everything, enough amenities to make stay great. It's NOT a luxury hotel, but they don't charge luxury hotel prices anyway, so it's OK. We were pleasantly surprised that we got an adjoining room with 2 double beds in it, so our child who got a fever right when we got there, could sleep comfortably and her constant coughing didn't wake me and hubby up at night. Instead the sounds of the waves crashing lulled us to sleep :) There were a couple of glitches (staff was mostly friendly but for 1, the bathroom in the pool area was disgusting but it was not the hotel's fault-someone just went nuts with the t.p., and the bathroom kind of smelled but I just figured it's the beach plumbing -- rusty pipes. Also the cable was not HD but hopefully ppl spend more time staring out at the ocean than at the TV here). The ocean front beach had everything: sand toys, boogie boards, volleyballs, chairs/chaise lounges/umbrellas, towels of course, and lots of other stuff you don't always get like water bottles. Overall we had a great time.

A motel 6 on a beautiful beach!

Friendly staff! Amazing view, perfect location but felt like I.was staying at a $59 a night motel 6! It's not like this resort needs millions of dollars in renovation! All the room needed was about $100 in materials and a few hours of time! Examples rusted shower rod, $10 chipping paint on the air ducks, rotted base boards, rust on the balcony. Loose tv that was diagonal, this hotel doesnt need any major work just simple fixes like a new screw to hold the tv straight on the wall, a $10 shower rod, a bucket of paint and a new baseboard to make it a nice resort!

Incredible view!

Our family stayed here for four nights in the Reef building located directly on the beach. The view was outstanding, from our balony it seemed as though you were on top of the ocean when the tide came in. This hotel is close to downtown, only 5 minutes walk to the best restaurants and entertainment. Across the street is a grocery store for all conveniences you don't want to bring from home. The beach is fantastic with the best sunsets. The rooms are basic but clean. The hotel is a 3 star in terms of amenities however the view, and location make this hotel a great deal. The staff were friendly and pleasant although the reception wasvslow due tonlack of staff. We will be staying here again.

cheating for promising a oceanview room

The description to to guarantee you a oceanview room, however, they don't admit that, they told me oceanview is part oceanview, you can see the ocean from other direction. That doesn't make sense to me.

Lovely time on the beach

I was there for a conference and upgraded my room to one with a view. It was a fantastic choice. Each night I went to sleep to the sound of the waves and each morning woke up to light reflecting off the water. I loved this hotel. It's location is ideal and the rooms were quite nice..

Basic Beach Hotel

The hotel was more of a motel. If you don't plan to stay indoors much, then this place is decent.

Beachfront balcony & Location Only Good Points

this is a really old hotel that has had minimal updates. Building is concrete block and furnishings cheap beach motif. If it weren't for the balcony literally hanging over the ocean (oceanfront rooms only), I would have left. Room was clean but carpet was stained and nasty. All metal (sliding glass door, shower curtain rod, dresser pulls) were rusted from the ocean salt. Location was great and staff were nice. Restaurant and bar next door nice with great views. Do not even consider this one unless you get ocean front. All other rooms look on to the alley.

Cafe Zoolu was the best place we ate. Food was fabulous and huge portions. Don't miss the Calamari and the swordfish 3 ways. Sea bass great too. We tried all the recommended restaurants ( Watermarc, Nick's) and this was SO MUCH better!

location, location, location

I only stayed here one night as I was passing through Laguna Beach. I was very happy with my choice. I actually booked a garden room, but decided to upgrade to an ocean view room once I got there (rm 504). DO IT! it's so worth it! The view is amazing and if you enjoy sleeping to the sound of ocean, the upgrade is worth every penny. The hotel is also in excellent location. It's walking distance to everything. The hotel even has a list of places that will give you a 10% discount when you show them the room key. Just a heads up, the hotel charges $20 for valet parking. Street parking is available, but limited to 3 hours by the meters every day of the week. Here's a quick breakdown of the bad and good.... bad: bathroom needs an update, light on the balcony didn't work, there was no trashcan in the room, parking is not free, pool was small and there were nowhere to laydown. good: oceanview is amazing, location, bed is comfortable, beach chairs/towels provided by the hotel, 10% discount provided by hotel for local businesses, staff are friendly and helpful.

Great Location

The Pacific Edge is a great location for those who want to stay on the beach and be shuttle or walking distance to town. It's an older hotel and the age shows in the bathroom particularly, but it wasn't dirty. It was a decent value for the location.
