Old-fashioned hotel with modern seaside elegance
Overlooking the Pacific Ocean since 1926, the La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla deftly mixes old and new. With its pink stucco hue, the property is known as the pink lady of La Jolla. The Mediterranean-style boutique hotel offers luxurious accommodations and amenities and enjoys walking distance to La Jolla village for some of the best shopping in Southern California. Three on-site restaurants, including the Art Deco Sky Room, provide guests with ample dining options.Highlights
- Historic buildings hearken back to another era
- Marvel at views of the Pacific Ocean
- Enjoy live music several nights a week in La Sala Lounge
Rooms
La Valencia Hotel offers 112 rooms, including nine suites, richly appointed with custom furnishings and luxury textiles. Each room comes standard with a plasma TV, Egyptian cotton linens and in-room safe, with many including a patio or balcony. Guests receive complimentary high-speed Internet access. Wi-Fi Internet access is also available (fees apply).
Features
The La Valencia Hotel has received AAA's four diamond award and was selected to the 2010 Best in the World Top 100 list by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. Today, the hotel retains many of the same design elements and characteristics that became trademarks of the hotel in the 1920s. The hotel developed a sustainability program in late 2009.
All guests enjoy complimentary access to a heated outdoor pool and an on-site fitness facility with cardiovascular equipment and free weights. Guests also receive a complimentary shoe shine every night. The hotel offers in-room spa treatments (fees apply) and 24-hour laundry service (fees apply).

Great Hotel
Wonderful hotel and hotel staff. The hotel is located on the ocean and the view from the room was fabulous. The room and the hotel were very clean and have a tuscany atmosphere. The resturant food for breakfast was tasty and priced well. Everyone - hotel staff- were extremely friendly and helpful. The neighbor is very artsy and lots of resturants and specialty shops. I plan to stay at this hotel again when in the La Jolla area.

Great weekend stay in a Great town
Could not have asked for more from the valet to the front desk to the restaurant staff. Rooms are a bit old as with all hotels this age and a bit small. The location is ideal for all excursions in and around San Diego. Great happy hour on the deck overlooking the Pacific. Valet will add 29.00 to your daily charges. If you are looking for an upscale hotel in the center of La Jolla i would highly recomend

You get what you pay for
This stay was an extension of a business trip to San Diego. We stayed for 2 days at the Del Coronado and then traveled to LaJolla for 2 days. The rooms are very nice and very small. Our bell hop was able to move us to a room over looking the garden but it was across from the ice machine and the door to the elevator. This is an old place and try as they may, unless you are into quaint don't stay here. The staff was helpful and the hotel was clean but, unless you pay the higher room rate, you will get no view and a postage stamp size room. This place was probably the place to stay 25 years ago.

Great historic hotel
If you like historic hotels, and I do, the La Valencia is a real gem. Stacked against a hillside overlooking La Jolla Cove and adjacent to dozens of shops and restaurants, the hotel is perfect for a weekend get away. The rooms are small, as you would expect in a historic hotel, but well appointed and clean. The staff is attentive and helpful and the views from various locations in the hotel are wonderful.

Promotions?
The hotel was great, but when I signed up to stay there, the promotion items included, "free valet service and a bottle of wine". The valet service was free, but the bottle of wine was not included. I questioned the staff about this and they were completely stunned by the claim. I allowed it to be dismissed because the price was so low, and the value of the stay was so high. This is a must pick hotel to stay in if you can get the room price for $185/night or less.

Short walk from hotel
The Living Room Coffee Shop is a staple of San Diego and there is one located about 200 yds from the hotel. They have great service, food, drinks, and as important as anything in La Jolla, a water view of the ocean from on top of the cove.
