The Mediterranean-style boutique hotel offers luxurious accommodations and amenities and enjoys walking distance to La Jolla village for some of the best shopping in Southern California. Three on-site restaurants, including the Art Deco Sky Room, provide guests with ample dining options.
Highlights
  • Historic buildings hearken back to another era
  • Marvel at views of the Pacific Ocean
  • Enjoy live music several nights a week in La Sala Lounge

Each room comes standard with a plasma TV, Egyptian cotton linens and in-room safe, with many including a patio or balcony. Guests receive complimentary high-speed Internet access. Features

The La Valencia Hotel has received AAA's four diamond award and was selected to the 2010 Best in the World Top 100 list by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. Great Romantic Getaway

The La Valencia Hotel, right on the beach in La Jolla, CA was an exceptional romantic getaway. My husband and I had a 4 day, 3 night experience that was exactly what we were looking for when booking this reservation. We were greeted by a professional valet service who took care of everything starting from putting up the top of our convertible to delivering our luggage right as we walked into our room. I loved the period elevator which was operated by a many lovely, friendly ladies. Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful with lots of marble and exquisite hardware. The robes were super fluffy and the towel monograms impressive. I took pictures of everything upon arrival. The grounds were so colorful and many more pictures were taken! The staff showed me other rooms as I was inquiring about a future visit. They were friendly and very accommodating. I will definitely be visiting La Valencia again!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

We found many exceptional restaurants as we walked the nearby streets. Some very upscale and some where all the locals were eating (Wahoo Fish Taco). We never really needed to take our car out except for the fact I rented a convertible and was looking forward to driving up the coast one afternoon.

Great Location and Very Charming

This was our first stay at LaValencia. It definetely needed a new paint job and carpeting, but the bed was extremely comfortable (this was the first time my husband did not wake up with a backache in the morning after sleeping at a hotel), and we had ocean view. The bathroom was small but overall we were pleased with the room. It was cute and had character. The cleaning service was great and enjoyed their night turndown service complete with candy on the nightstand. We had breakfast in the room one morning and it was very good. Aside from that we dined outside the hotel. Overall we really enjoyed the hotel, view and would come back in a heartbeat. I would not recommend children because I did not feel it was kid friendly. It was a great romantic getaway. I also enjoyed a wonderful massage. We will be back.

I would highly recommend Georges at the cove Restaurant for great dining and fantastic view. If you go to Coronado island and like Mexican I would also highly recommend Miguels, or favorite restaurant of the trip. For breakfast I recommend Brockton Villa. I had the best french toast I ever had. The most expensive too, but would pay it again.

Needs a little renovating, paint etc.

La Valencia is located on the Pacific Ocean the views from the dining room and foyer are stupendous. For the price I paid I was very much impressed by the room. I had a complete suite and three televisions. A little breakfast area with two balcones. I stayed right in La Jolla and everything was within walking distance. I would definitely stay there again.

Fantastic hotel, but expensive!

My husband, my son and I very much enjoyed our stay. The first room we were given was quite small. We were upgraded to a suite, which was complimentary. We loved our suite, the bed was very comfortable, however, the pull out couch was very uncomfortable. This hotel is like paradise, with very high prices for everything. We were shocked to learn of the $20 per night parking fee. The La Jolla area is safe, fun, but again very upscale and therefore very expensive.

Very relaxing getaway

This is a beautiful hotel. Wonderful amenities, old world charm and friendly staff. An elegant oasis adjacent to the La Jolla park and cove, as well as village shopping and many restaurant venues all within walking distance. The bed was so comfortable, we bought a comparable mattress, comforter and pillows when we returned home. We have been in La Jolla many times, but had not stayed at the La Valencia since the room rates are a bit pricey.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There are many different types of restaurants within a short walk, as well as restaurants within the hotel. Cody's is right across the street and has wonderful breakfast. Rapongai's a short walk has wonderful tapas. Azul and George's restaurant have great food and views of the ocean.

Great Hotel

Wonderful hotel and hotel staff. The hotel is located on the ocean and the view from the room was fabulous. The room and the hotel were very clean and have a tuscany atmosphere. The resturant food for breakfast was tasty and priced well. Everyone - hotel staff- were extremely friendly and helpful. The neighbor is very artsy and lots of resturants and specialty shops. I plan to stay at this hotel again when in the La Jolla area.
