Comfortable accommodations

The room was spacious and furnished with modern fixtures and amenities. There was a nice pool and the exterior garden areas were well kept and attractive. Front desk personnel was friendly. The set up of the hotel rooms was really nice because the rooms were not right on the street. They were all off of a courtyard. This created a safety barrier from anyone walking by on the street. The room could have used more towels.

Outstanding Comfort and Value

The remodeled rooms at the San Joaquin are right out of House Beautiful, and with the Temperpedic mattresses, the comfort is unmatched. The rooms are spotlessly clean and well equipped with modern electronics including two large flat-screen TVs with ROKU boxes. Amazing. The property is very quiet, and I never feel disturbed by others. The units are equipped with central AC, which means no window AC unit making racket next to my bed. That alone is an unmatched benefit. There is little to complain about. The grounds are clean and well kept, though the buildings themselves are older and dated in appearance. But I don't sleep outside. The breakfast is minimal, but I tend to skip anything less than a cook-to-order breakfast anyway, so it's no loss to me. At the rates they are asking, this property is by far the best value in North Fresno, not even close. It's a nicer and more comfortable room than chain hotels at twice the price. It's a suite, for crying out loud, not a room. The bathrooms are huge! Highly recommended.

A Gem of a Bargain

This hotel has been around Fresno for many years. I used to live in Fresno, so never stayed there. Now that I need to visit and find a place to stay, I decided to try what had always seemed an attractive location. I was so surprised! I expected nice, but I got stunning! This is easily the most highly-decorated suite I've seen in Fresno, gorgeous comfortable furniture in a very large floorplan. The bed was extremely comfortable, being a Temperpedic or something very similar. The best part is the central AC. Quiet and comfortable, no stupid wall unit making racket all night like even the best of the chain hotels. There was literally nothing to criticize about the room. The WiFi was adequate though slow and balky to connect. Could certainly be better signal and a stronger router (it claims to be a G router, which is pretty old.) My room had benefitted from the on-going refresh of the hotel, with new flat screen TVs (no big deal for me), new flooring, granite counters, fresh paint and new furniture. Be sure you get one of those. This hotel is an outstanding value, at less than half the cost per night of the local Hampton Inn. I will be back.

Great Surprise

I traveled with my wife, and a 4 month old daughter. We made the reservation the night before based on good reviews. the experience was better than we expected. Classy, tastefully decorated lobby gave a great representation if the place. Upon arrival we got immediately upgraded to a deluxe room free of charge. The concierge was very friendly and helpful. The room was great, clean, and esthetically pleasing. The next morning we toured the garden and the pool, both beautifully decorated with art. Staying at this hotel was a great, unique experience. We will definitely stay here next time we are in the area.

My review of The San Joaquin Hotel

The outside of the hotel and the lobby were beautiful. The staff was very helpful. The only thing was the room was old and needed updating. It smelled old. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. They said they were still remodeling, the rooms were next. So I honestly would give them another chance. I liked the location and felt totally safe there.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

The street it was located on had all the things you needed, shopping, dining, banking. It was a great location.
